Friday, February 2, 2007 Chicago, IL 1 YAGP 2015 Semi-finals Atlanta, GA January 23 - 25, 2015 Dear Participants, Parents and Teachers, It is with great pleasure that we welcome you to the YAGP 2015 Semi-Finals in Atlanta, GA! We hope you will enjoy learning from each other as well as the many distinguished dance professionals gathered here. As many of you already know, we have designed the YAGP experience in such a way that every participant, regardless of their level of training or career goals, can benefit greatly from the multitude of educational and professional opportunities available throughout the event. Competition entries are organized by birth date starting with our youngest participants. The only exceptions to this order are special considerations due to costume changes. We are proud to say that in only 16 short years YAGP has become the largest student scholarship competition in the world. This is in large part due to the support of our participants and participating schools. Located in the FSU Center for the Performing Arts, which is also home to the FSU/Asolo Conservatory for Actor Training, the exquisite Mertz Theatre is one of Sarasota's most populated and significant cultural venues. This installation was completed in August, with the comfortable new seating ready for Asolo Rep and The Sarasota Ballet's highly anticipated fall seasons. Capacity has increased from 503 to 535 seats, with most of the new seats added to the orchestra section of the theatre. Aisle lighting was also added for increased safety and visibility for patrons.The new layout also allows for an improvement in sight line clarity and an increase in ADA seating at a variety of price points. The seats, manufactured by Irwin Seating, are a replica of those in the historic New Amsterdam Theatre, the oldest operating theatre on Broadway, and reflect the style and aesthetic of the Mertz. The installation was funded by Florida State University and championed by Sally McRorie, the university's Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs.

He talked about this fabulous one-woman musical. I bought the musical selections and sang “Tell Me on a Sunday” through the teenage tears of heartbreak. It got me through. We chose to produce Song and Dance in celebration of the new School of the Arts (or SOTA) at Central Gwinnett High School. We want these students to see themselves on stage. India Tyree is stupendous. Hard Stop. Noah Johnson is equally thrilling (quiet by nature but fierce on cello.) Just as exciting is the incredible group of dancers we assembled. Hiring the right creative team is critical. Creative teams are not only our performers, but our directors, our choreographers, and our designers.

Sarasota, FL (March 2, 2017) – The Sarasota Ballet announces today that the Company joins the top national ballet companies in America by voting to join the American Guild of Musical Artists (AGMA). AGMA represents dancers, singers and stage production staff in dance and opera companies throughout the United States. A secret ballot vote was held based upon mutual agreement between The Sarasota Ballet and AGMA. Based on the results of the election, The Sarasota Ballet has recognized AGMA as the exclusive bargaining representative of the dancers. Negotiations for a first contract are expected to commence within a couple of weeks. “This is an understandable step in the growth of The Sarasota Ballet,” explains Executive Director, Joseph Volpe. More than 90 percent of ballet companies at or above the budget level of The Sarasota Ballet nationally are represented by AGMA. “We are thrilled to welcome the professional artists from The Sarasota Ballet into the AGMA family. We look forward to establishing industry standards to permit these dancers to reach their artistic and professional goals.     New Mertz Theatre Seating Page 1 of 3 **FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE** May 8, 2019 Asolo Rep and The Sarasota Ballet Announce Installation of New Seating in the Harold and Esther Mertz Theatre in the FSU Center for the Performing Arts (SARASOTA, May 8, 2019) — Asolo Repertory Theatre and The Sarasota Ballet proudly announce the installation of brand new seating in the Harold and Esther Mertz Theatre, the main performing space for Asolo Repertory Theatre and the home of The Sarasota Ballet. Located in the FSU Center for the Performing Arts, which is also home to the FSU/Asolo Conservatory for Actor Training, the exquisite Mertz Theatre is one of Sarasota's most populated and significant cultural venues. This installation will take place over the summer and is expected to be completed by the end of August 2019. The seating in the theatre has increased from 503 to 535 seats, with most of the new seats added to the orchestra section of the theatre. Comfort and sight-line clarity were first and foremost in the process. The new layout also allows for an increase in ADA seating at a variety of price points. The seats, manufactured by Irwin Seating, are a replica of those in the historic New Amsterdam Theatre, the oldest operating theatre on Broadway, and reflect the style and aesthetic of the Mertz. The installation was funded by Florida State University and championed by Sally McRorie, the university's Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs. The Mertz, which was originally an opera house built in Dunfermline, Scotland in 1903, has served as Asolo Rep's performing space since 1990 and The Sarasota Ballet’s since 1996.
