This year’s gala is dedicated to the motto “A Night at the Oscars” and to Gabriel Yared. Under the direction of Keith Lockhart, the ORF Radio Symphonieorchester Wien will undertake a glamorous journey through eight decades of film music and roll out the red carpet for the biggest Oscar-winning films and compositions. The programme includes orchestral music from cult films such as An American in Paris, The Wizard of Oz, Jaws, Black Panther and many others. The second concert part features the guest of honour, Oscar, Golden Globe and Grammy-winning French-Lebanese composer Gabriel Yared, who is known for his music for Cold Mountain or The Talented Mr. Ripley. In 1997 he received an Academy Award for the Orchestra ORF Radio film music to Anthony Minghella’s drama The English Patient. Gabriel Symphonieorchester Wien Yared furthermore treats the Viennese audience to one of his rare Chorus Cantus Novus Conductor Keith Lockhart public performances on the piano.
