Call To Worship

Each week, we begin with a call to worship. We remember that God speaks and invites us to worship Him. We respond in worship. We go to the Father, through Jesus (the Son), by the power of the Holy Spirit. Read this aloud.

Psalm 46

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble at its swelling.

There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy habitation of the Most High. God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved; God will help her when morning dawns. The nations rage, the kingdoms totter; he utters his voice, the earth melts. The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.

Come, behold the works of the LORD, how he has brought desolations on the earth. He makes wars cease to the end of the earth; he breaks the bow and shatters the spear; he burns the chariots with fire. “Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. (ESV) God I Look To You Ian McIntosh, Jenn Johnson

We confess our sin to God knowing that because of Jesus he hears us. Read the underlined words aloud. Kneel, sit, stand, extend your arms toward the heavens or out in front of you as a posture of surrender to God.

2 Timothy 2:22–23

So flee youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart. Have nothing to do with foolish, ignorant controversies; you know that they breed quarrels. (ESV)

Take a moment (silent or in the group) to confess your sin to God. Forever Reign

2 Timothy 2:11–13

The saying is trustworthy, for:

If we have died with him, we will also live with him; if we endure, we will also reign with him; if we deny him, he also will deny us; if we are faithless, he remains faithful—

for he cannot deny himself. (ESV)

God is faithful and will pardon, restore, and keep those who are truly his. It is because of Jesus that we receive and experience God’s power and salvation.

This truth fuels everything in our lives especially our generosity. God has given us everything in Jesus. We respond by giving from what he has so graciously provided.

Ephesians 6:1–12

Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. “Honor your father and mother” (this is the first commandment with a promise), “that it may go well with you and that you may live long in the land.” Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.

Bondservants, obey your earthly masters with fear and trembling, with a sincere heart, as you would Christ, not by the way of eye-service, as people-pleasers, but as bondservants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart, rendering service with a good will as to the Lord and not to man, knowing that whatever good anyone does, this he will receive back from the Lord, whether he is a bondservant or is free. Masters, do the same to them, and stop your threatening, knowing that he who is both their Master and yours is in heaven, and that there is no partiality with him.

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. (ESV)

This is the Word of the Lord.

Benediction

Each week we leave with a benediction. Benediction essentially means “to speak a good word.” The benediction conveys the beauty and power of God’s promise to go with us.

2 Timothy 4:18

The Lord will rescue you from every evil deed and bring you safely into his heavenly kingdom. To him be the glory forever and ever. Amen. (ESV)
