5 Creative ways to keep Malaysian homes cool without air con

Beat the Malaysian hot spells with these simple and natural methods. - RUBAA SHUNMUGANATHAN

At times, the prolonged heatwaves of our tropical country can be rather unforgiving, especially during the dry months. In case you’ve not noticed, Malaysia, particularly Klang Valley, has not been getting enough rain showers in the recent month. In warmer days like this, it’s tempting to crack the air-conditioner unit on full blast in order to cool the house. Unfortunately, it’s neither a budget-friendly nor an environmental-friendly way to reduce the temperature of your home. We agree that turning on your air- conditioner unit is the easiest and fastest method to cool your house but it might result in you racking up your electricity bill. It turns out that there are plenty of other ways to buffer your home from the heat without spending a fortune on your bills. Here are five natural methods to bring down the temperature of your home.

38 39 Court of Appeal: Home buyers rights to be heard in an EOT situation

“House buyers must be given an opportunity to be heard prior to granting an Extension of Time (EOT) to developers who delay the completion of a housing development project,” rules Malaysia’s Court of Appeal.

On 30th March 2018, a bench of 3 judges consisting of His Lordship Justice Datuk David Wong, His Lordship Justice Datuk Harmindar Singh Dhaliwal and Her Ladyship Justice Datuk Hasnah Datuk Mohammed Hashim, unanimously ruled that the rights of home buyers must be heard before EOT applies. This landmark decision is the latest development in the 3-year legal battle brought by 104 homebuyers against the Minister of Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government, Controller of Housing and developer, BHL Construction Sdn Bhd over the issuance of an EOT for the Palace Court (Sri Istana) condominium in Jalan Kuchai Lama, Kuala Lumpur. At City Docklands Limited, we want to help our buy-to-let (BTL) investors find the same success Chappell did.
