Domani mattina, venerdì 4 gennaio alle ore 10 (l’una di notte in Italia) si sfideranno sulla linea di partenza 79 team provenienti da 29 paesi. Siamo nel golfo di Melbourne, Australia, in un piccolo paese a sud-est chiamato Sorrento, nella penisola di Mornington, nel Victoria. Siamo nelle acque che ospiteranno una delle competizioni di maggior livello della vela mondiale olimpica organizzata dal Sorrento Sailing Couta Boat Club. Siamo nell’anno olimpico. Siamo a bordo di uno dei 49er più veloci del mondo, quello dei fratelli Sibello, Pietro e Gianfranco, gli azzurri già olimpionici ad Atene nel 2004. Gli azzurri portacolori delle Fiamme Gialle sono alla loro partecipazione mondiale numero 11, il loro patrimonio di risultati delle edizioni precedenti è ricco di brillanti obiettivi raggiunti, fra questi due bronzi, un quarto posto nel 2007e due volte sesti. Gli alassini che sono attualmente in terza posizione nella ranking list mondiale hanno di recente conquistato a Marsala, in Sicilia, la medaglia di bronzo ai Campionati Europei. Il loro allenatore è Luca De Pedrini, già allenatore di Alessandra Sensini la plurimedagliata olimpica del windsurf; il team azzurro è composto inoltre dell’equipaggio siculo-bresciano Giuseppe Angilella e Pietro Zucchetti. Ben 17 sono gli equipaggi padroni di casa e molteplici presenze d’oro a questa competizione che vedrà regattare medaglie olimpiche, mondiali e di continente, fra questi i sempre fortissimi spagnoli Iker Martinez e Xabier Fernandez, oro ad Atene 2004 e attuali campioni europei, i campioni del mondo in carica Stevie Morrison e Ben Rhodes e le medaglie d’argento olimpiche Rodion Luka e George Leonchuk. -

Report on the winter IGC / CMC meeting 1 A report was given concerning measurement issues. John Split Fleet and the MOCR 1-2 Koopman has recently made a presentation to ISAF regarding Message from the International Secretary 2 measurement of Star boats. All aspects of our current 2009 Star Worlds 2 standards were part of the presentation including John's 2011 Centennial Regatta 2 monitoring and measuring the hull density. As we understand Turul Trophy 2-3 it, both John and Star measurement are highly regarded by Regatta Reports ISAF, which allows the Class to retain our present standards Biscayne Trophy and the MOCR 3-5 and control of measurements of our boats and sails. Our 23rd Primo Cup 6 regatta measurement procedure continues to be measurement Masters 6-7 of boat, sails, spars, check of safety gear, crew weight, entry SCYA Midwinters 8 form and to find any non-compliance features. Bacardi Cup 8-10 The 2007 annual meeting has been rescheduled to take place Regatta Schedule 12 during the European championships in Italy, in early September. REPORT ON THE WINTER The meeting was adjourned at 2 PM. IGC / CMC MEETING by John Chiarella, International Secretary SPLIT FLEET AND THE MOCR The winter meeting of the Star Class CMC (Class by Rick Burgess, Chairman IGC Management Committee) and the IGC (International I thought I would pass along some of my thoughts concerning Governing Committee) was held in Miami following the the Split Fleet at the 2007 MOCR. -

Press Release no. 3 – April 15th, 2012 Casino Cup STAR EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP POLISH CREW LEADING AFTER RACE 1 Strong wind (20 knots) for the first race of the Star European Championship. Many retirements, due to the particular conditions of the sea. A strong East wind, around 20 knots, has characterized Race-1 of the Star European Championship – Casino Cup run today at Sanremo. After a particularly difficult regatta, with some retirements, the first place of the standings is occupied by Poland (Mateusz Kusznierewicz and Dominik Zycki, belonging to the Gdanski Klub Zeglarski). Second place for Germany, thanks to Johannes Polgar and Markus Koy (Norddeutscher Regatta Verein Hobel) and third place for Sweden, with Fredrik Loof and Max Salminen (KSSS). Among the many sailors that are taking part in the Star European Championship, the Polish crew, consisting of Mateusz Kusznierewicz and Dominik Zycki, and Swedish Fredrik Loof and Max Salminen, have been already qualified for the next Olympic Games. Besides them, among the protagonist of London 2012 there will be also the Germans Robert Stanjek and Frithjof Kleen (fourth place for them today), the Norwegians Sigurd Melleby Eivind and Morland Pedersen Petter (fifth place today) and Portuguese Alfonso Domingos and Federico Melo (tenth). Diego Negri and Enrico Voltolini, European Champions in 2011, belonging to the Sailing Team of Guardia di Finanza, are now in sixth place.
