The Martin Professional brand has since March 2013 been a part of the Professional Solution Division.

The Martin Professional brand is a world leader in the creation of dynamic lighting solutions for the entertainment, architectural, and commercial sectors. Martin lighting solutions are industry standard on top tours and events, grace prestigious theatres, energize nightclubs, and decorate major television studios around the globe. Other important areas of application are indoor and outdoor architecture and commercial applications where Martin products are increasingly being used to transform spaces through dynamic light.

Martin also offers a range of advanced lighting controllers and media servers, as well as a complete line of smoke machines as a complement to intelligent lighting. The company operates the industry’s most complete and capable distributor network with local partners in nearly 100 countries.

This strategy is to create a One-Stop-Shop for the professional entertainment market. Adding Martin to HARMAN’s USD $4.4 billion organization and combining two of the largest R&D budgets in the audio and entertainment lighting industry will enable the companies to grow and improve the lighting and video product offering to the benefit of all existing and new customers.

Role description

Title Project Manager (PM)

Location and Travel Located at HARMAN in Aarhus, Denmark.

Travel activities will depend on the type of projects the PM is running. Travel activities will be in connection with cooperation with external suppliers and internal meetings. In some projects, there will be very limited travel activities.

Mock-ups and prototypes are assembled in Aarhus in a small production line. Mock-up components are often made in the in-house workshop. The production – including the 0-series – is mostly done in Hungary, where the Harman Group has the European factory.

Responsibilities and Tasks The PM is responsible for managing new product development projects across Harman departments and functions. The PM shall develop products and solutions for the future.

The PM will be allocated the project after approved Business Case and finish after the product has been set in production with approved 0-series. Project timeline vary from 3 – 24 months, and the PM will manage 1 - 3 projects at the same time.

Harman is working with a technology roadmap looking three years ahead as a front-runner for new products. The total project portfolio is approx. 25 projects per year.

The project team will consists of a core group and involve different functions depending on the process and what type of project it is.

There are four type of projects in Harman: 1. In house development  developed with 100% internal resources, a core team up to 8 fulltime resources and several part-time 2. Co-development with external resources 3. Build to specification  products developed outside Harman - primarily in China - from specification 4. Off the shelf project  products that be integrated in the product portfolio, already developed by other companies.

The PM’s main tasks are:  Development of concepts in cooperation with the Product Management and R&D  Planning and executing development projects in accordance with the defined product development model  Independently manage cross-functional project groups from product concept definition phase to 0-series production  Coordination of development activities in all of Harman’s various departments, including R&D, Procurement, Production and Marketing  Ongoing risk management evaluating the risk and taking the necessary actions  Updating budget with cost, used time and resources with support from the project controller

 Securing the right documentation  Reporting and presenting at management steering committee meetings and the Internal Lighting Committee before passing main gates in the projects.

Result demands The overall ambition is a growth in new products of 10% using the same internal resources.

Performance for the PM will be measured by: . Deliver the projects as promised in the right time and quality – especially for the important product expeditions . Ability to lead and cooperate with highly skilled and experienced engineers in order to keep the time plan . Good relation and communication across the organisation in general.

Reporting Lines Reporting to Head of Project Management Martin Keller and to the Steering Committee for each project.

The PM will lead the allocated project teams for the projects.

Peer Group and Stakeholders The PM will be a part of Project Management in Harman Business Solutions in Aarhus with six Project Managers in total.

The PM will work with all project related functions such as Product Management, R&D, Procurement, Marketing and Production.

Before passing important gates in the project the PM will present the project for an Internal Lightning Committee going through readiness check in order to secure the right quality in the project.

Depending on the type of project, the PM will work with external suppliers in close cooperation with the Procurement Department.

Recruitment Profile

Minimum Requirements:

Education A technical background as an engineer – preferable in electronics alternatively software engineer. The importance is to have enough technical insight to be able to challenge the engineers.

Languages Fluent in English, both spoken and written. Fluent Danish I preferable, but can be compensated by a strong experience background.

Professional Experience Solid hands-on experience with cross-functional project management – including steering plan, continuous focus on active riskmanagement, quality assurance, cost and resources.

Experience from product development and preparing products for production is a large advantage but not a demand.

International experience working in and with different cultures.

Sector Experience No sector experience is required.

Technical skills Experienced use of project management tools as a Stage Gate model, MS Project, stakeholder analysis, risk management and FMEA.

Other requirements Experience from co-development projects – developing together with external partners - would be an extra plus.
