A Committee on Educational Leaves has been established and is charged with soliciting and deciding upon employees' appl ications for educational leaves, The purpose of the Educational Leaves programme is to provide "opportunities for probationary or tenured/continuing appointment employees to take educational leave for approved plans of study for purposes to include, but not to be limited to, attainment of a higher level of professional flexibility and better qualifications for internal transfer." Forms of professional development in which the foreseeable measurable benefit will be principally to the individual also fall within the ambit of the educational Ieave clauses. Applicants may apply for leave for an entire academic year or a portion thereof. They may also apply for leave spread over more than one year. In its assessment of applications the Educational Leaves Committee will apply the following criteria: timeliness, feasibility, and the anticipated benefits to the institution and to the individual. *--Ippi-'rProcedures: cants for educational leave must submit the fol lowing information: (l) A proposal in the form of a letter or statement, complete with a rationale that addresses the questions of timeliness, feasibility and anticipated benefits and any other matters that the appl i cant cons i ders rel evant to h i s/her case. The Committee has set February 15, 1984 as the date by which appl icants wi I I be informed of the decision on thei r appl ications,'k Applicants wishing further information may call the Chairperson of the Committee, Dean Ron Bordessa at -2451, or the Secretary of the Committee, Fran Bonisteel -2464.
