Eleven teachers were recognized who were chosen by the varsity team: -Freshmen Ella Burvee selected science teacher Michael Richards -Freshman Josie Grosdidier selected Spanish teacher Teresa Mustan -Freshman Elise Grosdidier selected math teacher Jamie Ballard -Freshman Danni Waller selected ELA teacher Dan Eigenberg -Junior Sammie Carey selected Math teacher Kerry Kinkelaar -Junior Shayla Edwards selected science teacher Keri Schumacher -Junior Lindsey Farthing selected Social studies teacher Matt Christensen -Senior Olivia Shin selected Special Education teacher and JV softball coach Lauren Richter -Senior Marnie Clark selected Engineering teacher Karen Stohlmann -Freshman Lainie Douglas selected Foreign language teacher Seth Turner. -Junior Brynn Grosdidier selected art teacher Melanie Mikel. The BVNW Girls Soccer team set a fundraising goal of $900 for the Global Orphan project to purchase new school uniforms for students in Malawi, Africa. They collected $741 at the Charity Night game and an additional $633 in online donations combined for a total of $1,374 in funds raised. Those funds raised purchase over 90 school uniforms which also means over 90 student lives positively impacted! The team will be presenting the proceeds of the fundraiser to Bazwell, a former graduate of that school in Malawi, at the BVNW Girls Varsity Soccer game this Thursday night (4/29). The BVNW Girls Soccer Team wants to thank all of the BVNW community who donated generously and helped make this possible. If anyone would still like to contribute, the online site is still open for additional donations at https://give.goproject.org/BVNWgirlssoccer . This year’s DECA Banquet is on Tuesday, May 11 at 6:00 PM in the PAC It is time to celebrate our DECA chapter! Join us while we highlight this year's successes, hand out State awards, recognize ICDC qualifiers, and announce our new BVNW DECA officers! All DECA students and 2 additional family members are invited. Muse Magazine 2021 is finally out! Check out all the student talent BVNW has to offer! Every year Muse members put together a new edition of Muse magazine, BVNW’s literary arts magazine, to hand out to all the students in April. Take a look through this digital version and appreciate the hard work of the contributors who submitted their work, as well as the staff who selected pieces to be published and put it together. If you haven’t gotten the hard copy of the magazine yet, get yours now before it runs out in Room 109! Counseling Congratulations The BVNW competition journalism team captured the Kansas 6A state journalism championship this weekend. Please congratulate all the newspaper and yearbook students, but particularly our individual state champions: Bella Rinne in Digital Illustration Celia Monroy-Harris in Student Life Photography Sabrina San Agustin in Advertising Design Camryn Dillavou in Yearbook Copywriting The Kansas High School Photojournalist of the Year is Jessica Witt (that award crosses all classifications 1A-6A) Others competing and placing include: Richa Laddha Mitri Krishna Sydney Stremming Lola Shipman Emma Johnson Ashlyn Van Horn Allison Dragoo Ella Hutnick Izze Lentfer Katelyn Foster The Express (Print Newspaper), BVNWnews.com, (Online News) and Horizon (Yearbook) were all awarded an All- Kansas Award, the highest recognition given to a school publication by the Kansas Scholastic Press Association.
