The Organization was set up on 6th June 1954. During the last six decades the Organization has converted the idle man power into resourceful entrepreneurs. The policies formulated by the organizations are aimed at creating new generation of entrepreneurs with modern technological innovations. The Organisation has institutional set up with Head Office at Delhi headed by Additional Secretary & Development Commissioner, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, New Delhi. The Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises – Development Institutes and Branch Institutes are set up at various States and District Head Quarters. At present there are 30 Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, 28 Branch Institutes attached to main Institutes. To cater to the needs of the testing facilities for the micro, small and medium entrepreneurs, 4 MSME Testing Centres were set up during the year 1975-76. Subsequently, a few MSME Testing Stations depending upon the needs of the places were set up. At present 7 MSME Testing Stations are functioning at different places in the country. Apart from the above, there are 6 Process-cum-Product Development Centres in the fields of Glass, Electronics, Electrical Measuring, Sports Goods, Fragrances & Flavours and Foundries. There are 2 Central Footwear Training Institutes, 10 Tool Rooms and 3 National Level Entrepreneurial Development Institutes. MSME – Development Institute, Bangalore was set up in the year 1957 and currently has one branch Institute at Mangalore. GEOGRAPHICAL COVERAGE The MSME – Development Institute, Bangalore and Branch MSME – Development Institute, Mangalore are providing a comprehensive range of facilities and services such as techno- managerial services, training needs, common facility workshop and laboratories, statistical and economic information etc. MSME - Development Institute, Bangalore maintains close liaisons with State Government Departments and other agencies involved in the promotional and development activities of the State. 5 At present, MSME - Development Institute, Bangalore is covering 17 Districts of Southern part of the State. They are as follows:- 1. Bangalore Urban 2. Bangalore Rural 3. Chamarajanagar 4. Chickmagalur 5. Chitradurga 6. Dakshina Kannada 7. Davangere 8. Hassan 9. Kodagu 10. Kolar 11. Mandya 12. Mysore 13. Shimoga 14. Tumkur 15. Udupi 16. Ramnagar 17. Chikkaballapur A Branch Institute was set up in Mangalore during 1977 under MSME – DI, Bangalore jurisdiction. In the year 1982, a Branch Institute was established at Gulbarga to cater to the needs of the entrepreneurs located in Hyderabad-Karnataka area. The MSME – Development Institute, Hubli is extending services to the needy entrepreneurs in the North Karnataka region and Hyderabad-Karnataka Areas. A policy decision was taken in the year 1992 to close down the Extension Centers throughout the country. Since then, Extension Centers at Belgaum and Mysore were closed. 6 CHAPTER-II TRAINING PROGRAMMES Training is one of the necessary inputs for the existing as well as prospective entrepreneurs. Training programmes like Entrepreneurship Development, Skill Development and Motivations campaigns are very much essential for entrepreneurs for enhancing the skills in all respects . These programmes are tailor-made for the benefit of entrepreneurs. During the programme, candidates are made aware of various facilities available from Govt. Agencies, Financial Institutions trained technically, and exposed to important functions of management. INDUSTRIAL MOTIVATION CAMPAIGNS – 2015-16 To motivate younger generation and educated unemployed youths to take up the self-employment ventures, Motivation Campaigns are organized at various places. Agencies like Financial Institutions, DICs, KVIC, NSIC are invited to explain about their activities. During the year 33 Motivation Campaigns were conducted and a total number of 2001 persons participated in the various programmes. During the training programmes, the candidates will be taught about the selection of product, preparation of project reports, conducting market surveys, elementary book keeping etc. The EDPs covers both entrepreneurship and other topics. During the year, 33 programmes were conducted and trained 781 candidates. Etc Ref : Annexure ‘ B’ 8 CHAPTER - III CONSULTANCY SERVICES The primary objective of the Institute is to provide consultancy services to the existing and prospective entrepreneurs. The existing entrepreneurs are assisted in providing technical updating,, technological innovations etc. The prospective entrepreneurs are provided with basic information such as Scope for industries, providing project reports, Assisting the entrepreneurs in the selection of products, Imparting trainings such as Skill Development Programmes, Entrepreneurial Development Programmes, Management Development Programmes and motivating educated unemployed youths through Campaigns. INFORMATION FACILITATION COUNTER The Information Facilitation Counter provides information to the prospective as well as existing entrepreneurs. During the year, about 664 entrepreneurs/startup etc visited the Counter. The following information was provided:- Sl.no Type of Assistance No. of Units 1. Karnataka Komu Souharda Vedike is a coalition of over 200 organizations working since 2002 to establish communal harmony and to fight against the agenda ofcommunalism in Karnataka. This paper is an effort to detail I how the coalition has countered the Sangh Pari\'ar for the past five years politically, ideologically and at times, through direct confrontations on the streets. For the Sangh Pannr, Karnataka is its gateway to South India - statements by the national BJP kaders including the current ~fP A.mnth Kumar substantiate this. CTBUREAU_KK 2 hours ago Mysuru, February 9:- The electrification of the double track between Mysuru and Bengaluru is expected to be launched and formally inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the city on February 26. According to sources, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to visit Mysuru on February 26 to officially inaugurate these services which are awaited by the rail commuters from past two months. The Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) completed the inspection of the electrified railway track and gave his clearance for operation of electric trains in December last year. The railway authorities initially planned to launch the new electrified railway track on December 26, 2017 by inviting Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal, but it was later cancelled as Prime Minister Narendra Modi was keen to be present during the inauguration. Mysuru-Kodagu Member of Parliament Pratap Simha also took to his twitter handle and confirmed that PM Modi will be part of the inauguration ceremony. It was also said that Narendra Modi who visited Bengaluru on February 4 to address the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Parivartana rally would inaugurate the service; however, it was postponed again. Meanwhile, reliable railway sources told City Today that Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Bengaluru- Mysuru electrified rail double track and also flag off three new trains. It is also said that he would also lay the foundation stone for Bengaluru- Mysuru 10-lane National Highway project on 26th of this month.

    Karnataka: under Saffron siege ? • Karnataka Komu Souharda Vedike 1 Combating communalism -A Karnataka experience Communalism, given its rapid intensification, is a haunting spectre across India – reaching flashpoints in several states including Gujarat, Orissa, Chattisgarh and Karnataka to mention a few. An example of its growing impact can be mapped when we consider that the main plank of the Central Government’s election campaign was to counter the communal forces in this country. Given this context, Karnataka Komu Souharda Vedike believes it is important to share its experience about the on-going struggle with the Sangh Parivar and the successes we have countered through the years in Karnataka. Karnataka Komu Souharda Vedike is a coalition of over 200 organizations working since 2002 to establish communal harmony and to fight against the agenda of communalism in Karnataka. This paper is an effort to detail how the coalition has countered the Sangh Parivar for the past five years politically, ideologically and at times, through direct confrontations on the streets. For the Sangh Parivar, Karnataka is its gateway to South India – statements by the national BJP leaders including the current MP Ananth Kumar substantiate this. Following the Babri Masjid demolition in 1992, the frequency of communal conflicts or riots increased drastically in Karnataka with Mangalore, Hubli, Belgaum and Chikmagalur districts witnessing repeated communal conflicts. Idgah Maidan in Hubli and Bababudangiri in Chikmaglur emerged as two areas that saw immense efforts by the Sangh Parivar to manifest its communal ideology. In the subsequent years, however, the Sangh Parivar chose Bababudangiri as a place to foment communal passions and hence establish itself in Karnataka.
