Karnataka Komu Souharda Vedike is a coalition of over 200 organizations working since 2002 to establish communal harmony and to fight against the agenda ofcommunalism in Karnataka. This paper is an effort to detail I how the coalition has countered the Sangh Pari\'ar for the past five years politically, ideologically and at times, through direct confrontations on the streets. For the Sangh Pannr, Karnataka is its gateway to South India - statements by the national BJP kaders including the current ~fP A.mnth Kumar substantiate this. Follo\\lng the Babtl ~ Iasjid demolition in 1992, the frequency of communal contlicts or riots increased drastically in Karnataka with Mangalore, Hubli, Bclgaum and Chikmagalur districts \vitnessing repeated communal contlicts. Idgah ~1aidan in Hubli and Bababudangiri in Chikmaglur emerged as two areas that saw immense efforts by the Sangh Pariyar to manifest its communal ideology. CTBUREAU_KK 2 hours ago Mysuru, February 9:- The electrification of the double track between Mysuru and Bengaluru is expected to be launched and formally inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the city on February 26. According to sources, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to visit Mysuru on February 26 to officially inaugurate these services which are awaited by the rail commuters from past two months. The Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) completed the inspection of the electrified railway track and gave his clearance for operation of electric trains in December last year. The railway authorities initially planned to launch the new electrified railway track on December 26, 2017 by inviting Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal, but it was later cancelled as Prime Minister Narendra Modi was keen to be present during the inauguration. Mysuru-Kodagu Member of Parliament Pratap Simha also took to his twitter handle and confirmed that PM Modi will be part of the inauguration ceremony. It was also said that Narendra Modi who visited Bengaluru on February 4 to address the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Parivartana rally would inaugurate the service; however, it was postponed again. Meanwhile, reliable railway sources told City Today that Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Bengaluru- Mysuru electrified rail double track and also flag off three new trains. It is also said that he would also lay the foundation stone for Bengaluru- Mysuru 10-lane National Highway project on 26th of this month.

YEDIYURAPPA (SHIMOGA): Madam Speaker, thank you very much for giving me this opportunity. In the State of Karnataka, there a feeling amongst the Government officials that they are not safe in the State. There is a sense of anarchy prevailing in the minds of the bureaucrats. The police officers are being subjected to insult, humiliation and ill-treatment and frequent transfers are also being effected. Two police officers in Karnataka of the rank of DOSP, * have committed suicide.     Karnataka: under Saffron siege ? • Karnataka Komu Souharda Vedike 1 Combating communalism -A Karnataka experience Communalism, given its rapid intensification, is a haunting spectre across India – reaching flashpoints in several states including Gujarat, Orissa, Chattisgarh and Karnataka to mention a few. An example of its growing impact can be mapped when we consider that the main plank of the Central Government’s election campaign was to counter the communal forces in this country. Given this context, Karnataka Komu Souharda Vedike believes it is important to share its experience about the on-going struggle with the Sangh Parivar and the successes we have countered through the years in Karnataka. Karnataka Komu Souharda Vedike is a coalition of over 200 organizations working since 2002 to establish communal harmony and to fight against the agenda of communalism in Karnataka. This paper is an effort to detail how the coalition has countered the Sangh Parivar for the past five years politically, ideologically and at times, through direct confrontations on the streets. For the Sangh Parivar, Karnataka is its gateway to South India – statements by the national BJP leaders including the current MP Ananth Kumar substantiate this. Following the Babri Masjid demolition in 1992, the frequency of communal conflicts or riots increased drastically in Karnataka with Mangalore, Hubli, Belgaum and Chikmagalur districts witnessing repeated communal conflicts. Idgah Maidan in Hubli and Bababudangiri in Chikmaglur emerged as two areas that saw immense efforts by the Sangh Parivar to manifest its communal ideology. In the subsequent years, however, the Sangh Parivar chose Bababudangiri as a place to foment communal passions and hence establish itself in Karnataka.
