Hopefully with the vaccine being administered normalcy is just around the corner. Cassidy and Chef Joe are slowly adding back activities monthly, so please check all the bulletin boards, the calendar in the newsletter and make sure you check your email, as this is how we attempt to keep you up to date with the appropriate information. For any additional information or questions concerning the Food and Beverage at Sugarmill Woods and Southern Woods, please contact Cassidy at [email protected] or call her at 382-5645. There has been one positive from COVID, and that is we have had a lot of golfers playing at all our facilities. It really has been good for golf! Robin, Jordan and I recently started discussing several different ideas of attracting these golfers to play at and join our clubs as a member. Yes, we have had a good year, but we have a long way to go. We will be sending the information out through email once we finalize the new membership drive. To make our clubs all they can be we need everyone's help; this involves referring new members to join the club, bringing guests to play golf or bringing them to dine at the Clubs with you, promoting the Clubs to everyone you may come in contact with and attending and participating in all the clubs activities. If you have any ideas, and/or suggestions of new ways to attract new members please email Robin at [email protected] or call her at (352) 559- 7106, or Jordan at [email protected] or call him at (352) 382-2131. With the weather being cooler than normal this winter it has made all of the summer Bermuda grass dormant. This has given the maintenance crews a brief window to catch up on some other items that we can't get to when all the grass are growing. Since Mike Blisch has joined our team, both Sugarmill Woods and Southern Woods are starting to get back to the conditions that we have grown accustom to. Mike Blisch, Danny Vargo, George Weldon, Eric Nowman and Danny Staton have done an awesome job in getting our course on the right track with limited resources. Thank you for all your hard work; it does show guys. We have already started to schedule our normal practices to keep mole crickets, nematodes, weed control and several fertilizer applications for the upcoming year. I would like to say how much I appreciate all the members for their patience, support, and cooperation during this pandemic. Under normal circumstances we like to give news about some of our junior tennis players as well as the various age group County teams. As tennis at all levels has been severely disrupted since March, the contents of this year’s handbook will be different in that we have very few results to include but hopefully the changes we have made will prove both interesting and informative. We thought it would be a change to ask some of our junior county players to write about their tennis experiences so we asked Rhona Cook (18U Cheshire Junior Champion) to give an insight into what it was like playing in the 18U Junior County Cup event (played in February).
