"The Rocketeer" Disney Junior's "The Rocketeer" follows Kit, a young girl who receives a surprise package on her birthday revealing she's next in line to become the Rocketeer, a legendary superhero who has the ability to fly with the help of a rocket-pack. Armed with her cool new gear and secret identity, Kit is ready to take flight and save the day with her gadget-minded best friend, Tesh, and Butch the bulldog by her side. Inspired by Dave Stevens' popular comic book series and the subsequent 1991 Walt Disney Pictures feature film, the series is designed for kids 2-7 and their families. Full of comedy, action and heart, the series showcases classic superhero wish- fulfillment with real-kid relatability. Each episode follows Kit as she embarks on a high- flying adventure to help save her small town of Hughesville and its residents from trouble—usually brought on by the many comedic villains that will be featured throughout the series. Whether it be foiling a plot by the costumed bandit Sylvester Slapdash to rob the town's café or going up against the thieving sister team of Laura and Harley, Kit utilizes her new flying abilities, problem-solving skills and creativity to restore order and leave the villains, which also include mischievous magician The Great Orsino, his sidekick Deany, and the Cast-Iron Chef, to try another day. As with most superheroes, Kit has a team to help her pull off her heroic adventures and keep her identity hidden from the masses. Her best friend, Tesh, serves as ground control when Kit takes to the skies and is also the inventor of the high-tech gadgets and upgrades for her rocket-pack. Also along for the ride are Kit's loyal dog, Butch, and grandfather, Ambrose Secord, who works at the Hughesville Airport. When Kit receives the rocket-pack for her birthday, he is the one who recognizes the device for what it is, helps Kit train and serves as her mechanic. He is the only adult character who knows about Kit's identity as the new Rocketeer. Also featured in the series are Kit's mom and dad, Sareena and Dave Secord. Dave is a pilot with a passion for anything that has to do with aviation, a trait he has passed down to his daughter. Sareena runs the local Bulldog Café. She is an excellent cook and, although she does not understand Kit's love of flying, she supports her daughter and wants her to follow her dream of becoming a pilot. The series' curriculum is based around themes of empowerment, recognizing and knowing right from wrong and critical thinking/problem solving, all of which are modeled by Kit, who has a strong sense of self and an inherent desire to do the right thing and protect the community. Music also plays a big role in the series with each episode containing an original song. "The Rocketeer" voice cast includes Billy Campbell ("The Rocketeer") as Dave Secord, Kathy Najimy ("Hocus Pocus") as Sareena Secord, Kitana Turnbull ("A Series of Unfortunate Events") as Kit Secord, Callan Farris (Disney Channel's "Gabby Duran & The Unsittables") as Tesh, Frank Welker ("Scooby-Doo") as Grandpa Ambrose, Navia Robinson (Disney Channel's "Raven's Home") as Valerie Valkyrie, Kari Wahlgren (Disney's "DuckTales") as Harley, Maria Bamford ("Arrested Development") as Laura, Maurice LaMarche ("Pinky and the Brain") as Sylvester Slapdash, Charlie Adler ("Tiny Toon Adventures") as The Great Orsino, Parvesh Cheena ("Crazy Ex-Girlfriend") as Deany and Ted Allen ("Chopped") as Cast-Iron Chef. Emmy® Award-nominated Nicole Dubuc ("Transformers: Rescue Bots") developed the series and also serves as executive producer. Michael Kenny (Disney's "Miles From Tomorrowland") is supervising director. Emmy Award-nominated Beau Black (Disney's "The Lion Guard") is songwriter and Annie Award-nominated Dominic Lewis (Disney's "DuckTales") is composer. The series is produced by Wild Canary in association with Disney Junior. It carries a TV-Y parental guideline. -- Disney Junior -- 9/19 .
