More than 40 Austrian companies with ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA at the world’s largest food innovation exhibition, SIAL 2016

The world’s leading international food fair, SIAL Paris, will be held for the fifty-first time from 16 to 20 October 2016. Together with ANUGA Cologne, SIAL is the most important event for the international food and drinks industry. ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA, together with the Austrian foreign trade centre in Paris, is organising four go- international Austria Stands for more than 40 Austrian companies at this leading exhibition in the fields of:  International cooperation/fine food  Organic products  Drinks  Meat

The go-international Austria Stands will boast a total area of 760m². 14 companies will be presenting for the first time. Two companies will be individual exhibitors. Furthermore, Agrarmarkt Austria (AM) will have a group stand with seven companies from the dairy products sector.

The Austrian group exhibitors will present a comprehensive range including preserves, spice mixes, confectionery, soups, sauces, spices and desserts, “Multistoppers” & mats for chopping boards, GM-free soya, spirits and cocktails, energy drinks based on a tea with the flavour of elderberries/red currants, concentrates for tea, quality wines, functional fruit drinks, post-mix syrups and weight-loss aids, dairy products, meat and cured meat products, coffee, mixed milk drinks (Vienna Ice Coffee), organic muesli, Styrian pumpkin seed oil and organic flours, organic-quality ingredients and concept innovations for selling “food products with value added”. Well-known companies such as Darbo, Greisinger, Hochreiter, Franz Kastner, Kotanyi, Landhof, Manner, Maresi, Pez International and Starzinger will be among the Austrian exhibitors.

As part of the “SIAL Innovation 2014” competition with over 1,700 entrants, the Austrian exhibitors will submit their products for the “SIAL Innovations Award 2016”. The awards will be announced on the second day of the fair.

Numerous international business contacts with visitors from across the globe await the Austrian exhibitors. Attendance at the fair will also be used for meeting international distribution partners, along with the focus on observing the international competition and the latest trends in the international food and drinks industry.

On the third day of the fair, ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA is set to hold the SIAL Austria Evening – a platform for industry talks between the Austrian exhibitors, distributors and business partners, as well as the international media.

Industry experts from the Austrian foreign trade centres of the ten most important visitor countries from SIAL 2014 will be at the Austria Stands to coordinate contacts between the importers of their fields and the Austrian exhibitors, as well as holding individual consultations with the Austrian exhibitors.

International business people who attended MARKETPLACE AUSTRIA FOOD 2016 in the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber in Vienna on 12 October 2016 will visit SIAL accompanied foreign trade centre experts and establish additional contacts with the Austrian exhibitors.

In 2015 Austrian food and drinks exports (tariff chapters 16 to 24) totalled almost EUR 6 bn worldwide (+7.3%). is the undisputed leader as a target market, with current export volumes of EUR 2 bn (+ 7.8%), ranked first in the list of countries. It is followed by the USA (EUR 612 mn/+40.0%), (EUR 475 mn/+3.1%), Switzerland (EUR 286 mn/+10.1%) and Hungary (EUR 199 mn/-4.5%). With export volumes of EUR 141 mn (+9.4%) in 2015, comes seventh in the ranking of the most important export destinations for Austrian food and drinks.

The Austria Stands are subsidised by go-international, an initiative by the Federal Ministry of Science, Research and Economy and the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber.

SIAL Paris 2016 will bring together more than 6,000 direct exhibitors from over 100 nations, including 100 official country representations on a gross floor area of 200,000m². More than 150,000 trade visitors from 200 countries are expected over the course of the five-day event.
