See BULLEN chart (f) I think it likely that there is a mistake in the first is described as "of Metingham" James & Mary (late BULLEN) was baptised. On 19 Dec 1801, Edward LEGOOD son of Edward & Elizabeth (late PALMER) was baptised. son of James and Susan LEGOOD. Immediately above this entry, and with the same date, of children of Robert HANNER, with mother's maiden name given as Honor LORD. for descendants of these five baptisms. I think the parents should be John BULLEN and which is a village in Suffolk On 23 Feb 1794, Robert LEGOOD son of (From Bedingham registers.) One of these Edwards married Esther BANHAM in 1829. is the baptism of Edward LEGOOD, son of John and Susan LEGOOD. I don't know whether However, on looking at Woodton registers (which I have on microfiches) none There is a marriage recorded on 24 Jul 1803 (again in the IGI) at Great Yarmouth "James & Elizabeth", the same as the other four. It would Sarah SCARFF James BULLEN - another sibling close to Bungay. Edward & Elizabeth (late PALMER) was baptised. there were 2 LEGOOD couples (James & Susan and John & Susan) or there is a mistake in of these records actually give the mother's maiden name. The baptism register between Stephen SPRATT and Honor LORD. This may be the right person but I of be an extraordinary coincidence if another James BULLEN (Information from Bedingham registers.) Both Edwards can be found in the 1851 census. One, age 49, is a farmer's bailiff, with one of the entries. Both are very clear. (Bedingham registers fiche 3 row 1 frame 9). does not have maiden names in this period. cannot pick them up in 1841 or 1851 so cannot confirm it. There are children Mary REEVE (married to a Mary) came to Bedingham just after James Since preparing this chart I have been contacted by Nigel Austin who Care required when researching this person. wife Hester. The other is shoemaker, age 52, alone, status unmarried or widowed - not clear. recorded for this marriage: and & Elizabeth were married, had a child baptised, and then has pointed out that I have left out one sibling from this family. There is a marriage in Bedingham on 29 Oct 1744 recorded between John LEGOOD junr Furthermore, there is recorded (fiche 9) a marriage on 12 Nov 1815, between Benjamin SMITH disappeared again. He is James BULLEN baptised August 6th 1775 in Bedingham. In 1841, this second Edward is with Elizabeth LEGOOD, 10 years his junior. and Susanna GOWEL both single otp, by banns. These may be Abraham's Parents. Robert HANNER and Honor BROOKS (bride and groom both single). So I think the Edward SPRATT (1807), Mary Ann SPRATT (1810), Elizabeth SPRATT (1812), (Bedingham registers fiche 3) person who entered the IGI records may have made an incorrect assumption about Caroline SPRATT (1814), and Samuel SPRATT (1817). I have checked earlier in the register and can find only the This James BULLEN probably married Mary DOWNING at Topcroft I think it most likely that Edward (son of James & Mary) was the shoemaker married to who Robert's wife was and have written this mistake into the baptism records. one James BULLEN mentioned - he was baptised 3 Mar 1741, in 1801 (the witnesses included James REEVE, his brother-in-law). a younger woman called Elizabeth. The other Edward married Esther BANHAM. son of John & Sarah BULLEN. I have checked neighbouring parishes for a James & Mary BULLEN and have found none. James and Mary BULLEN baptised several children in nearby Denton: Another point to note is that the Bedingham register at this Marjaram (1804), James (1806), Henry (1811), Hannah (1813) and time (early 1770's) looks like it has been copied, because John (1816) (Henry's record has DOWNING as mother's maiden name). many entries covering several years are written in exactly the same writing and same pen. The mistake could be that of the copyist.

It is on the basis of this assumption that I have included Elizabeth BULLEN on this chart as part of the family of John & Sarah BULLEN.
