With plenty of untouched nature and amazing food, it’s no wonder that Kyushu has become quite the popular destination in the recent years. It can be overwhelming trying to narrow down places to visit in this large region. Hence, we’ve created this itinerary which focuses on Fukuoka, Nagasaki, and Kumamoto. These 3 are a few of the top destinations which are easily accessible and close to each other. Brunch at Ichiran Ramen It’s time for food! What better way to start your Japan trip than with a warm bowl of comforting tonkotsu ramen. When in Fukuoka, it’s obligatory to go to Ichiran Ramen, the world famous ramen store franchise. Make sure to slurp down every last drop. We totally won’t judge if you decide to buy the instant Ichiran noodles back home cause they’re THAT good. Join a traditional Hakata shopping tour After that satisfying ramen meal, it’s time for your Hakata day tour. The meet-up point located conveniently at Hakata Station. In this traditional Japanese shopping tour, you will be brought to several locations and get a glimpse of the local’s daily lives complete with explanations from the tour guide. Meet up location: In front of the elevators at Hakata station, Hakata-guchi (look out for the Burabura Fukuoka flag) IMPORTANT: Please arrive at the meet up point 10 minutes before scheduled departure Tour itinerary ● 2pm meet up at Hakata station ● Rakusui garden (30 minutes) ● Sumiyoshi Shrine (20 minutes) ● Minoshima shopping street (50 minutes) ● Yanagibashi market (40 minutes) ● 5pm tour ends at Yanagibashi market *If the weather is not suitable for walking, the tour will be changed to indoor locations like Kawabata shopping street and Riverain Mall Burabura Fukuoka flag as displayed above 4. Dinner at Yoriaidokoro Tsushima (よりあい処つしま) Since the tour ends at Yanagibashi Market, you will have to make your way to the restaurant. Yoriaidokoro Tsushima is located a short walk from Hakata Station, known for serving fresh raw fish at a reasonable price. It’s said that be building of this restaurant is a 100-year-old house! Since the space is quite limited, you might have to wait during peak meal hours. Getting there: Walk 20-min from Yanagibashi market. Dinner at Hyotan Sushi A local favourite, Hyotan Sushi is one of the must-try restaurants in Fukuoka. With two locations near the Tenjin Station, the difference the two is that one is a conveyor belt sushi and the other one isn’t. Both are excellent in terms of quality and also price. From gourmet sushi like abalone, sea urchin, and grilled eel to sashimi sets and sushi platters, the choice is endless. Of course, you gotta have their tuna - fattier cuts of chutoro or ootoro, and the regular maguro. Getting there: Take the subway from Hakata Station to Tenjin Station. Walk 3-min from the station to either one of the restaurants.
