My heart wants beat like the wings of the birds that rise from the lake to the trees.

We attended the Midwest Theatre Auditions at Wehster University in St. Louis where 55 different theatres auditioned over 400 young actors and actresses and interviewed about 100 theatre technicians. 84 children auditioned here in Sullivan for the children's roles in THE SOUND OF MUSIC and over 65 adults attended our Sullivan auditions. And ... we saw another 87 people at our Actors' Equity Association audition call in Chicago. (In addition, Seth Reines attends other auditions in his role as Artistic Producer for the Prather Family Dinner Theatres and has seen over 700 people.) From all of this, we will assemble a company of approximately 100 people including only 30-35 different actors. I am sure that we have found talented performers who will produce the quality productions that you have become accustomed to here at The Little Theatre On The Square. We are glad you are here and we know you will enjoy the show.

  • Audition Pack the Sound of Music Taieri Musical Society
AUDITION PACK THE SOUND OF MUSIC TAIERI MUSICAL SOCIETY 14th – 23rd MAY 2015 Taieri Musical Society is delighted to announce auditions for one of the world’s most beloved musicals, The Sound of Music. Following the success of Mamma Mia! at the Regent Theatre, Taieri Musical Society is returning to Coronation Hall in Mosgiel with the uplifting true story of Maria Rainer, a Postulant at Nonnberg Abby, who becomes a governess to the seven children of the widowed Captain Von Trapp, changing their lives through her love of music, against the backdrop of impending war. The Sound of Music runs from 14th through 23rd May 2015, and is directed by Denise Henderson, with musical director Steve Miles and assistant musical director Charlotte McKay. ABOUT THE SHOW The longest running Broadway musical of the early 1960s, The Sound of Music marked the last collaboration between composer Richard Rodgers (1902-1979) and lyricist/librettist Oscar Hammerstein II (1895-1960). Based partially on Maria Von Trapp's autobiography, The Trapp Family Singers, The Sound of Music includes a remarkable number of popular songs, such as The Sound of Music, My Favourite Things, Climb Every Mountain, Do-Re-Mi, and Edelweiss. The setting for The Sound of Music is Salzburg, Austria, where Maria, a postulant at Nonnberg Abbey, is too free-spirited to accept the discipline of the order easily and frequently escapes to the mountains. Thus, the Mother Abbess arranges for Maria to work as a governess for the wealthy, aristocratic Captain George Von Trapp—a widower with seven children. By adding music and outdoor expeditions to the children's normally rigorous schedule, Maria wins the children's hearts.
