Specialty Cookie Faqs Specialty Cookie FAQs What are the six “core” cookie varieties? Thin Mints, Samoas, Tagalongs, Trefoils, Do-si-dos and Savannah Smiles return to the cookie lineup at $5/ box. What are the two “specialty” cookies? Girl Scout S’mores is a crunchy graham sandwich cookie with layers of creamy chocolate and marshmallowy filling embossed with the Girl’s Choice Outdoor Badges. Developed exclusively for Girl Scouts in response to popular consumer trends, this is the first cookie in the world with layered fillings. Made with natural flavors and specialty ingredients, it is Whole Foods Market compliant, with no artificial colors, no high fructose corn syrup, no hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated oils, and no genetically modified organisms (GMOs). Toffee-tastic is a rich, buttery gluten-free cookie packed with toffee chips. Why are the specialty cookies priced at $6? Girl Scout S’mores and Toffee-tastic cost Girl Scouts San Diego more than twice as much as the six core cookies. Girl Scout S’mores: To create the exclusive layered filling, the baker invested in machinery and procedures. Specialty ingredients and natural flavors are also much more expensive. Toffee-tastic: Special gluten-free ingredients and testing the production line and product to ensure the cookie is gluten-free, creates additional expenses that the baker passes on to Girl Scout councils. Do all Girl Scout councils price their specialty cookies at $6/box? Some councils will sell specialty cookies at $6/box. Our neighboring Girl Scout councils (Orange County and San Gorgonio) have a different cookie baker (ABC Baker) that will produce a non-specialty s’mores cookie. This cookie is covered in chocolate and has no unique ingredients or features and will sell for $5/box. Are specialty cookies available in the cookie cupboards? Depending on availability, specialty cookies may be available in cookie cupboards. Troops that do not place their order by Friday, Jan. 12 will be able to place cupboard orders for these varieties, but availability is not guaranteed. *S’mores: The tradition of enjoying s’mores in the outdoors was popularized by Girl Scouts as early as the 1920s. We were one of the first to publish the iconic recipe under the name “Some More” in a 1925 issue of Girl Scout Leader magazine and, then, as “Somemores” in an official 1927 Girl Scout publication. The s’mores tradition is a sentimental component of Girl Scouts’ longstanding commitment to the outdoors, a cornerstone of the organization that plays a vital role in girls’ leadership development. Bread is served in various forms with any meal of the day. It is eaten as a snack, and used as an ingredient in other culinary preparations, such as sandwiches, and fried items coated in bread crumbs to prevent sticking. It forms the bland main component of bread pudding, as well as of stuffing designed to fill cavities or retain juices that otherwise might drip out. Bread has a social and emotional significance beyond its importance as nourishment. It plays essential roles in religious rituals and secular culture. Its prominence in daily life is reflected in language, where it appears in proverbs, colloquial expressions ("He stole the bread from my mouth"), in prayer ("Give us this day our daily bread") and in the etymology of words, such as "companion" (from Latin comes "with" + panis "bread"). 1.2 OBJECTIVE The Objective of this unit is to provide: 1.

  • Girl Scout Responses to Social and Sensitive Issues FINAL.Docx
Girl Scout Responses to Social and Sensitive Issues During Girl Scout Cookie Season (typically January through early March in most areas), we tend to see an uptick in false news connected to Girl Scouts. You may also encounter challenges at booth sales. Please use the information below to help dispel myths about Girl Scouts and the Girl Scout Cookie Program. If questions go beyond your comfortable response, please direct customers to reach out to [email protected] The Girl Scout Cookie Program is the largest fundraiser for our Girl Scouts - with 100% of the proceeds remaining in our council to benefit girls through council hosted programs and properties, service unit funds and troop proceeds to fund troop-based activities. SAFETY The safety and protection of girls and adult volunteers and our customers is a top priority. Several safety guidelines are established to keep girls safe when selling cookies online, door-to-door, or at community cookie booths. These guidelines are published and distributed to each participating family. We do not tolerate individuals who harass girls at cookie booths. In the instance that individuals or groups attending a Girl Scout Cookie sale make girls, volunteers, or staff uncomfortable, we will call law enforcement. COVID Safety Girls and families are given options when participating in the Girl Scout Cookie Program so they can determine the pathway that is right for them. Girls and volunteers who exhibit signs of illness may not participate in booth and door-to-door sales and deliveries.
