Girl Scout Responses to Social and Sensitive Issues During Girl Scout Cookie Season (typically January through early March in most areas), we tend to see an uptick in false news connected to Girl Scouts. You may also encounter challenges at booth sales. Please use the information below to help dispel myths about Girl Scouts and the Girl Scout Cookie Program. If questions go beyond your comfortable response, please direct customers to reach out to [email protected] The Girl Scout Cookie Program is the largest fundraiser for our Girl Scouts - with 100% of the proceeds remaining in our council to benefit girls through council hosted programs and properties, service unit funds and troop proceeds to fund troop-based activities. SAFETY The safety and protection of girls and adult volunteers and our customers is a top priority. Several safety guidelines are established to keep girls safe when selling cookies online, door-to-door, or at community cookie booths. These guidelines are published and distributed to each participating family. We do not tolerate individuals who harass girls at cookie booths. In the instance that individuals or groups attending a Girl Scout Cookie sale make girls, volunteers, or staff uncomfortable, we will call law enforcement. COVID Safety Girls and families are given options when participating in the Girl Scout Cookie Program so they can determine the pathway that is right for them. Girls and volunteers who exhibit signs of illness may not participate in booth and door-to-door sales and deliveries. Thin Mint Brownies Ingredients ½ box of crushed Thin Mints® Girl Scout Cookies 1 box of brownie mix 2 eggs (3 eggs for cake-like brownies)ownies) ¼ cup of water ½ cup of vegetable oil Directions 1. Crush Thin Mints® intoo medium sizesize pieces. 2. Mix all ingredients intoo mixing bowl.bowl. Do not use electric mixer.. BatterBatter will be stiff. 3. Spread batter evenly in greasedeased baking pan (13 x 9 x 2 inch). 4. Bake in center of oven at 350 degrees F for 30 too 35 minuminutes.tes. 5. Remove from oven and allowow toto cool before cutting. Serve with mint-ﬂavored tea. Yields 6 servings Thin Mints® Sweet & Salty Mix Ready in 15 min Makes 10-12 cups What you need: Directions: Ingredients 1. Make the Thin Mints Crispix 1 (12 ounce) bag of semi-sweet, bittersweet or Melt 11.5 ounces of chocolate chips in a saucepan or in microwave for 3-4 milk chocolate chips (use your favorite) minutes until melted. Add mint extract to chocolate and stir. Pour Crispix cereal ¼ teaspoon peppermint extract into a large mixing bowl. Pour melted chocolate over the cereal and gently stir 4 ½ cups Kellogg’s Crispix® cereal until completely coated in chocolate. Stir in with powered sugar and 10 finely 1 ½ cups powdered sugar crushed Thin Mints. Girl Scout Cookie Program Tips for Talking Girl Scouts This cookie season, show cookie customers how the iconic Girl Scout Cookie Program (the largest girl-led entrepreneurial program in the world!) prepares girls in their communities to lead, learn, and succeed, all while making it possible for them to embark on amazing adventures, form a lifetime of memories, and unleash the power to change the world! When talking to cookie customers about the sale and why girls participate, make sure to: • Tell them about all the things girls are learning by selling Girl Scout Cookies, like goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills, and business ethics. • Share your girls’ sales goals and what the troop plans to do with its cookie proceeds in the coming year. (PRO TIP: Knowing how troops use cookie money is what customers really want to hear about when they consider supporting your sale and stocking up on cookies!) • Remind them that 100 percent of cookie proceeds stay local. The money raised through the cookie sale helps your council power unique, amazing experiences for girls year-round. And the best part? The girls get to decide what they’ll spend their hard-earned cookie cash on—it’s their world! Girl Scouts is about so much more than cookies. Everything a Girl Scout does centers on four program pillars: science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM); the outdoors; life skills; and entrepreneurship. Plus, this year we added new badges in STEM and the outdoors to up the adventure and the learning!
