La iniciativa se inscribe en el Proyecto Flora iberica, financiado en la actualidad por el Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad. El estudio ha entrañado la realización de numerosas prospecciones en el campo, necesarias para poder abordar aspectos importantes, tales como los estudios cariológicos, palinológicos y moleculares, todos encaminados a apoyar la slntesis taxonómica, que ha requerido además de un exhaustivo estudio de material conservado en herbarios nacionales e internacionales. -

Acta Pharmacologica Sinica (2018) 39: 787–801 © 2018 CPS and SIMM All rights reserved 1671-4083/18 www.nature.com/aps Review Article Overview of the anti-inflammatory effects, pharmacokinetic properties and clinical efficacies of arctigenin and arctiin from Arctium lappa L Qiong GAO, Mengbi YANG, Zhong ZUO* School of Pharmacy, Faculty of Medicine, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong SAR, China Abstract Arctigenin (AR) and its glycoside, arctiin, are two major active ingredients of Arctium lappa L (A lappa), a popular medicinal herb and health supplement frequently used in Asia. In the past several decades, bioactive components from A lappa have attracted the attention of researchers due to their promising therapeutic effects. In the current article, we aimed to provide an overview of the pharmacology of AR and arctiin, focusing on their anti-inflammatory effects, pharmacokinetics properties and clinical efficacies. Compared to acrtiin, AR was reported as the most potent bioactive component of A lappa in the majority of studies. AR exhibits potent anti-inflammatory activities by inhibiting inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) via modulation of several cytokines. Due to its potent anti-inflammatory effects, AR may serve as a potential therapeutic compound against both acute inflammation and various chronic diseases. However, pharmacokinetic studies demonstrated the extensive glucuronidation and hydrolysis of AR in liver, intestine and plasma, which might hinder its in vivo and clinical efficacy after oral administration. Based on the reviewed pharmacological and pharmacokinetic characteristics of AR, further pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic studies of AR via alternative administration routes are suggested to promote its ability to serve as a therapeutic agent as well as an ideal bioactive marker for A lappa. -

However, investigations of diferent Centaurea calcitrapa L. extracts in terms of cytotoxicity and antimi- crobial activity against phytopathogens are generally scarce. The phenolic profle and broad antimicrobial activity (especially towards bacterial phytopathogens) of methanol (MeOH), 70% ethanol (EtOH), ethyl-acetate (EtOAc), 50% acetone (Me2CO) and dichloromethane: methanol (DCM: MeOH, 1: 1) extracts of C. calcitrapa leaves and their poten- tial toxicity on MRC-5 cell line were investigated for the frst time. A total of 55 phenolic compounds were identifed: 30 phenolic acids and their derivatives, 25 favonoid glycosides and aglycones. This is also the frst report of the pres- ence of centaureidin, jaceidin, kaempferide, nepetin, favonoid glycosides, phenolic acids and their esters in C. calci- trapa extracts. The best results were obtained with EtOAc extract with lowest MIC values expressed in µg/mL ranging from 13 to 25, while methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus was the most susceptible strain. The most susceptible phytopathogens were Pseudomonas syringae pv. syringae, Xanthomonas campestris pv. campestris and Agrobacte- rium tumefaciens. The highest cytotoxicity was recorded for EtOAc and Me2CO extracts with the lowest relative and absolute IC50 values between 88 and 102 µg/mL, while EtOH extract was the least toxic with predicted relative IC 50 value of 1578 µg/mL. -

La flora vascolare della Penisola del Sinis (Sardegna Occidentale). Viene presentato lo studio della flora vascolare della Penisola del Sinis; in totale sono state rinvenute 760 unità tassonomiche e in particolare 615 specie, 134 sottospecie, 10 varietà e 1 ibrido, riferibili a 365 generi e 87 famiglie. Le Eudicots sono risultate il gruppo sistematico dominante. Le famiglie più rappresentate sono: Poaceae (99 unità tassonomiche), Fabaceae e Asteraceae (85), Caryophyllaceae (33), Apiaceae (27) e Orchidaceae (24). I generi con maggior numero di taxa sono: Trifolium (19), Silene (14), Limonium e Medicago (13), Ophrys (12), Euphorbia e Vicia (10), Plantago (9), Allium (8) e infine Lotus, Ranunculus e Vulpia (7). Il contingente delle endemiche (54 unità tassonomiche) è risultato pari al 8,97% della componente mediterranea e mostra una dominanza degli elementi sardo-corsi (33,33%) e secondariamente sardi (24,10%), i quali unitamente raggiungono il 57,43% del totale. La flora endemica è costituita da 31 specie, 17 sottospecie e 6 varietà, inquadrati in 38 generi e 22 famiglie. Le famiglie più rappresentate sono risultate le Plumbaginaceae (10), Asteraceae e Lamiaceae (5), Fabaceae (4), Alliaceae, Euphorbiaceae e Ranunculaceae (3); il genere più ricco è risultato Limonium (10), seguito da Allium, Delphinium, Euphorbia, Scrophularia, Silene e Teucrium (2).
