YURTCAN Abstract Eleven agricultural and silviculturally important species of Noctuidae and their parasitoids were determined in 33 localities from the Western Black Sea region between 2001 and 2004. The ichneumonid biological control agents Enicospilus ramidulus, Barylypa amabilis and Itoplectis alternans were obtained by rearing the host larvae. K e y w o r d s : Lepidoptera, Noctuidae, Hymenoptera, Ichneumonidae, parasitoidism, Western Black Sea Region, Turkey Zusammenfassung 11 land- und forstwirtschaftlich bedeutende Noctuidae-Arten einschließlich ihrer Parasitoide aus 33 Standorten des Gebietes des westlichen Schwarzen Meeres wurden im Zeitraum 2001 bis 2004 studiert. Ichneumonidae der Arten Enicospilus ramidulus, Barylypa amabilis and Itoplectis alternans konnten durch Aufzucht der Wirtslarven festgestellt werden. 377 ©Entomofauna Ansfelden/Austria; download unter www.biologiezentrum.at Introduction The Noctuidae is the largest family of the Lepidoptera. Larvae of some species are par- ticularly harmful to agricultural and silvicultural regions worldwide. Consequently, for years intense efforts have been carried out to control them through chemical, biological, and cultural methods (LIBURD et al. 2000; HOBALLAH et al. 2004; TOPRAK & GÜRKAN 2005). In the field, noctuid control is often carried out by parasitoid wasps (CHO et al. 2006). Ichneumonids are one of the most prevalent parasitoid groups of noctuids but they also parasitize on other many Lepidoptera, Coleoptera, Hymenoptera, Diptera and Araneae (KASPARYAN 1981; FITTON et al. 1987, 1988; GAULD & BOLTON 1988; WAHL 1993; GEORGIEV & KOLAROV 1999). -

												A New Report of Odontosia Sieversii (Lepidoptera: Notodontidae) from Korea

The genus Odontosia Hübner is characterized by the elongate and serrate margin of its forewing and the prominent harpe of valva and many spinular cornuti on the vesica of the male genitalia and the robust ductus bursae and large, ovate and sclerotized corpus bursae of the female genitalia. Only one species of Odontosia, O. patricia Stichel, 1918, has been reported from Korea. In this paper, Odontosia sieversii (Ménétriès, 1856) is newly added to the Korean fauna based on three male specimens collected at Mt. Bangtaesan, Gangwon-do, Korea. Diagnosis for the species and photographs of adult and genitalia of the genus Odontosia are provided. INTRODUCTION The fauna of noctuoid moths (the families Erebidae and Noctuidae) of Kazakhstan is still poorly studied. Only the fauna of West Kazakhstan has been studied satisfactorily (Gorbunov 2011). On the faunas of other parts of the country, only fragmentary data are published (Lederer, 1853; 1855; Aibasov & Zhdanko 1982; Hacker & Peks 1990; Lehmann et al. 1998; Benedek & Bálint 2009; 2013; Korb 2013). In contrast to the West Kazakhstan, the fauna of noctuid moths of East Kazakhstan was studied inadequately. -

The Noctuidae (Lepidoptera) of the Daghestan Republic (Russia) Poltavsky Alexander Nikolaevitch & Ilyina Elena Vjatcheslavovna Abstract. In this paper the complete list of Noctuidae currently known from Daghestan, the largest republic in the North Caucasus, is given. The list comprises 343 species and includes original data of the authors, records from the two main national collections in Russia, and some data from a few publications. Noctuidae were recorded from 37 localities in Daghestan, situated in the five natural zones of the country. The time interval of the faunistic studies spreads through the main part of the 20th Century: from 1926 to 2000. Samenvatting. De Noctuidae (Lepidoptera) van de Republiek Daghestan (Rusland) Dit artikel bevat de volledige lijst van de 343 soorten Noctuidae die tot op heden bekend zijn uit Daghestan, de grootste republiek in de Noord-Kaukasus. De lijst werd samengesteld met persoonlijke waarnemingen van de auteurs, gegevens uit de twee belangrijkste verzamelingen in Rusland en enkele gepubliceerde gegevens. Noctuidae werden op 37 plaatsen verzameld in Daghestan, gelegen in de 5 natuurlijke gebieden van het land. De waarnemingen stammen uit een grote tijdspanne in de 20ste eeuw: van 1926 tot 2000. Résumé. Les Noctuidés (Lepidoptera) de la République du Daghestan (Russie) Cet article contient la liste complète des 343 espèces de Noctuidae qui sont connues du Daghestan, la république la plus grande du Nord-Caucase. La liste a été compilée avec les observations personnelles des auteurs, les données des deux plus grandes collections de Russie et quelques citations dans la littérature. Abstract Additions, deletions and corrections are made to the Irish checklist of butterflies and moths (Lepidoptera). Elachista biatomella (Stainton, 1848) is added to the Irish list. The total number of confirmed Irish species of Lepidoptera now stands at 1480. Key words: Lepidoptera, additions, deletions, corrections, Irish list, Elachista biatomella Introduction Bond, Nash and O’Connor (2006) provided a checklist of the Irish Lepidoptera. Since its publication, many new discoveries have been made and are reported here. In addition, several deletions have been made. A concise and updated checklist is provided. The following abbreviations are used in the text: BM(NH) – The Natural History Museum, London; NMINH – National Museum of Ireland, Natural History, Dublin. The total number of confirmed Irish species now stands at 1480, an addition of 68 since Bond et al. (2006). Taxonomic arrangement As a result of recent systematic research, it has been necessary to replace the arrangement familiar to British and Irish Lepidopterists by the Fauna Europaea [FE] system used by Karsholt 60 Bulletin of the Irish Biogeographical Society No. 36 (2012) and Razowski, which is widely used in continental Europe. -

This preserve is only a few miles from both the Indiana and Michigan state borders. The great biodiversity of moths is reflected in the bog, fen, shrub swamp, and marsh communities bor dering the lake. A check list of species summarizes identified collections for 1988,1992,1995 and 1996 and includes the Hodges et al (1983) species num bers, the scientific name, and the numbers collected by different collecting methods. -

JOSEPHE II CENSUS OF 1784-1787 IN ZARAND COUNTY Ionuţ-Cosmin CODREA The land of Zarand is a well-delimited geographic and ethnographic area, with a well-defined historical identity, lying between the western, mountainous parts of the old Zarand County and the eastern plains. The western part of the Apuseni Mountains rises as a row of mountainous massifs, isolated by broad alluvial depressions, which look like bays on a map and are actually intermountain plains. Through these tectonic depressions is made the link between the valleys of the Black Criş and the Mureş, the so-called Deva - Beiuş depression corridor.1 This region stretches along the White Criş, marked in the north by the Codru Moma Mountains and by the mountains of Bihor and Zarand, while to the south by the Metaliferi Mountains. Geographers recognise, generally, the unitary character of this Zarand “County,” although between Gurahonţ and Leasa the continuity is recognised only in the White Criş Valley. In the east, the intermountain valley (also called the Brad Basin) continues until Săcărâmb, in a region that generically belongs to the Metaliferi Mountains, while downstream it continues until Gurahonţ.2 In the 18th century, administratively speaking, the Land of Zarand had reached the end of a long journey and had turned from a part of the old County of Zarand (constituted around the eponymous fortress in the 12th and 13th centuries) into a county in its own right, through the “Karolin Resolution” of 31 December 1732, issued by Emperor Charles VI.3 The decision to carry out the Joseph II Census of 1784-1787 is part of a set of administrative measures implemented by the monarch “Aufklärer” Joseph II, which he wanted to be a more vigorous continuation of the reforms started by Maria Theresa.
