Ref.:COSTCEL1038/001 FINAL /001 Rev. - iii - Issued: January 2016 Project Name Framework Travel Plan Document Title Branston Road High school 1 Background 1.1 Introduction Amey Consulting has been instructed by Entrust, on behalf of Staffordshire County Council (the Council), to produce a Travel Plan to support their planning application for the development of Branston Road High school (BRHS) on land adjoining Branston Road in Tatenhill in East Staffordshire (see Figure 1-1). The proposed development is for an 8 FE (Form Entry) school initially serving 210 and eventually up to 1,440 secondary school students, drawn from existing residential areas of Burton upon Trent, in particular to the west of the town centre and increasingly, over time, a number of new residential developments planned for the West of Burton. In addition to the students there will initially be around 78 staff (36 teaching and 42 non- teaching staff) employed by the school and this will increase to around 182 staff (91 teaching and 91 non-teaching staff) once all students are in situ. Tatenhill Parish is located in East Staffordshire and includes the villages of Tatenhill and Rangemore

    Tracking Progression: 2008 Year 11 school leavers going into Higher Education in 2010 Staffordshire & Stoke-on-Trent March 2011 Introduction Analysis of entry to Higher Education (HE) by Local Authority, district and mainstream, maintained high school This report shows the proportion of all 2008 Year 11 high school students who went on to enter Higher Education (HE) at age 18 in 2010 (i.e. after two years of further education). Figures include those who have an unconditional place offer and are taking a 'gap year'. This study includes those who have entered HE from both the school and college sectors. The report sub-divides the Year 11 cohort into quintiles based on where they live. So Quintile 1 represents those areas in the County/City that are among the 20% most deprived in the country and identifies how many learners in the cohort come from this quintile, and how many of those subsequently applied to higher education. Quintile 5 represents those from areas in the 20% least deprived in the country. The deprivation of an area is based on the Index of Multiple Deprivation (IMD) which is described below (see*). To provide some comparison year on year, data for 2008 entry to HE has been included in the analysis. * The Index of Multiple Deprivation 2007 (IMD 2007) is based on the small area of geography known as Lower Super Output Areas (LSOAs). LSOAs have a population between 1,000 and 3,000 people, with an average of 1,500 people. In most cases, these are smaller than wards, thus allowing the identification of small pockets of deprivation.

Civic Matters: Lucy Clarke, Civic Officer On Wednesday 14 March the Mayor and Sheriff held a Charity Fashion Show in the Guildhall. This year’s event was supported by ‘Young Ideas’ based in Bore Street, Lichfield and ‘Obsession Salon & Spa’. The event not only included a fashion show but also entertainment by local singer Cliff Antony and dancing by Victoria Neale’s ‘Want2Dance’. Our very own Mace Bearer, Richard Hunt was one of the models for Young Ideas and proved to be a natural on the catwalk. The evening was a great success raising a total of £1312.16 for the Mayor & Sheriff’s chosen charities Guide Dogs for the Blind and Staffordshire Blood Bikes. On Friday 16 March the annual Arthur Price of England School Speaking Competition was held in the Guildhall. The event had been scheduled to take place two weeks prior but had to be postponed for the first time in its history due to extreme weather conditions. A few changes were made as a result, including the welcome return of the previous long serving Time Keeper Robin Jones, Lay Rotary Member, as a judge for this year’s competition alongside the Mayor, Cllr Mrs Janice Greaves, Simon Price from Arthur Price of England and Rotary Club Lichfield St. Chad President Tim Wadsworth. The question debated was chosen by the Chairman, Michael Fabricant MP “That this House believes the British Monarchy should be abolished”. The debate was conducted along similar guidelines that apply in the House of Commons with no handclapping, applause being made by the waving of programmes acting as ballot papers.

This represents 6.2% of the East Staffordshire area. 2001 & 2011 Census The Census which takes place every ten years provides the most authoritative statistics on our local population. The 2011 Census work has started but the first results from this will not be available until September 2012, and this will initially be at a local authority level. Further results will be released by the Office for National Statistics throughout 2013/14. Therefore, many of the statistics throughout this report refer to the 2001 Census.
