His tenure at MCA goes back 15 years, beginning as aSt. Louis sales rep in 1973. Since then, he has moved steadily up the cor- porate ladder—first, as midwest regional sales manager, then, to Los Angeles in 1979 as director of national sales. Burns was boosted to Vice President of Branch Distribution in 1980, Senieit VP of MCA Distribution in 1983, then finally, Executive Vice., 1 President of Distribution and Manufacturing, his present title, it 1986. While Burns will readily admit that MCA is not tte biggest distribution operation in the business, he asserts "we want to it have the best batting average."
