Skiers and snowboarders encounter a range of weather conditions on the mountain. There are versatile lenses suited for different weather conditions, but no lens can optimally perform in all conditions.

Brands developed quick lens interchange systems for having the right lens at all times – even with gloves on. Some shredders prefer one lens. The choice is yours.

Every lens tint varies in brightness or darkness. The amount of light that passes through the lens is the Visible Light Transmission (VLT). VLT falls along a range between 0% and 100%. The higher the VLT, the more light allowed through the lens. Lens tints fall into three categories:

Bright Conditions – The darkest lenses allowing the least light through the lens. For blue bird days, often feature a mirror coating. VLT range from 5% - 20%.

Medium / Bright Conditions - For days when the sun plays hide and seek behind cloud cover. These lenses have a medium copper, rose, or brown base tints with a light to no mirror. VLT ranges from 11% - 35%.

Low / Medium Conditions - For overcast days on the mountain, yellow and amber base tints are supreme. These deliver the best contrast, enabling you to clearly see the bumps in the snow up ahead. VLT ranges from 50% - 90%.
