This year, the club again fulfilled its mission to provide opportunities for our players to play at the level of cricket he or she is capable of. At the highest levels, Dolphins again prominantly featured in the Queensland Bulls (Andrew Robinson, Michael Neser, Brad Ipson, Greg Moller) and Australian Youth teams (Nick Stevens, Sam Hain, Billy Stanlake) this year. We also provided two players – Alex Melville and Robbie Miller to Queensland’s sucessful Imparja Cup Team. Such an array of talent would be the envy of most grade clubs across the country. The premiership win by our women’s team was an outstanding result. Congratulations to all involved. Across the grades, it was also pleasing to see that with three rounds to go, every team had a chance of making the finals. While the weather and other results impacted our run, we did suffer from a lack of depth at times. This will be something the club will be working hard to address in the off-season. I must also thank the efforts of the coaching staff who were ably led this year by Head Coach Garry Lovett. Thanks also to the support staff who volunteer each week to make sure our matches run smoothly. The Club has been well supported again this year by our Club Patron, Ros Bates MP, and local Councillor Jan Grew. We greatly appreciate their ongoing support. Also a special thank you to our Queensland Cricket Delegate – Rory Solomon, and Cricket Gold Coast Directors—Archie Morris, Tony Radanovic and Greg Kaddatz. I would also like to thank the Management Committee members that worked to keep the club at top level throughout the year – Jeff Pfaff (Vice President), Gerry Stevens (Secretary), Bob Menzies (Treasurer), Tony Radanovic, Greg Kaddatz, Archie Morris, Bonnie Graham and Simon Matthews. After a couple of years consolidating the club’s off-field position, the Committee is looking forward to taking the next steps required to ensure the Dolphins become one of the great grade clubs. Some of this work will happen behind the scenes, but all members will have a chance to contribute. A large number of players completed the player survey and these responses will form part of the Club’s planning for 2013/14 and beyond. In addition, the upgrade of the Kerrydale wicket block is designed to not only further improve the quality of the wickets, but cement its place as the premier cricket facility in the region. Enjoy the break, and we look forward to seeing you all again in season 2013/14. Alan McGillivray President 10 Gold Coast District Cricket Club Annual Report – Season 2012/13 Coaching report The Season 2012-13 for all Grade’s was such a successful season in many ways. Starting with an extensive pre-season training schedule targeting fitness and agility and coming together as a playing group, then to complete a couple of successful trial games (against University and our intra-club trial) put our young playing group in good stead for the up and coming season. Even though winning Premierships look great in the club’s trophy cabinet, my main objective this year as Club Coach was to grow and develop the group to become Queensland representative players at both Junior and Senior levels. To have five players from our 1st Grade squad chosen to represent at the top level at different times throughout the season, and countless juniors that have represented at Queensland and New South Wales level this year, I feel that we as a club have achieved and completed a succesful season. To have all four grades very much in the running at the back half of season to play in finals, and then to only have the chances dashed die to circumstances that we have no control over (and that is the damn weather!), this in itself is a amazing effort from such a young playing group. We had a lot of stand out performers this year: . There were none better than Brad Ipson (Peter Burge Medal winner) with 41 wickets at an average of 17.49 (including three five wicket hauls) and an average of 26.50 with the bat; .

In the absence of any Second XI cricket and the One Day Cup competition, the Bob Willis Trophy reports have been expanded to include a write up for each day’s play as well as the full scorecards. Sadly all fixtures were played behind closed doors so hopefully these extended reports will enable readers to get the feeling of actually being at the game! In addition, the Somerset Women’s team reports plus the Boys and Girls Pathway write ups are included in the first half of the book as they now come under the remit of Somerset CCC rather than the Somerset Cricket Board.
