Matthew Week 7-3 Matthew 4:1-22 For Further Study The temptation of Jesus and the call to His disciples is a familiar pas- sage, exemplifying Jesus’ perfection and ability to resist temptation and his call for us to do the same. Even in His perfect example, though, we can see His reliance on the Father in the same gifts and tools that we have as His disciples. He is dependent on the Spirit’s leading, He sub- mits Himself to spiritual disciplines, and His victory over temptation is in His familiarity with God’s word. He has called us to be His disciples and follow His example.
