Matthew 4:1-22 Notes

Matthew 4:1-22 Notes: Matthew Week 7-1 Matthew 4:1-22 Pray: Ask God to calm your mind and direct your time in His word. Rest: Give God anything that is distracting you. Read: Through the section. Read through a second time, out loud, if you are able. Pause and take note of anything that you may not have noticed before or anything that is convicting or confusing. Consider & Respond to these questions: What does this passage say about who God is? What does it say about the world as it is? What example(s) does Jesus give that is applicable to your walk as a disciple? What, practically, can you do to respond? Matthew Week 7-2 Matthew 4:1-22 Questions from Sunday Reflecting on this Sunday’s teaching, respond to these questions: What are you seeking? Has Jesus consumed your life? Please explain. Have you renounced all to follow Jesus? Please explain. Are you following Jesus? Please explain. Matthew Week 7-3 Matthew 4:1-22 For Further Study The temptation of Jesus and the call to His disciples is a familiar pas- sage, exemplifying Jesus’ perfection and ability to resist temptation and his call for us to do the same. Even in His perfect example, though, we can see His reliance on the Father in the same gifts and tools that we have as His disciples. He is dependent on the Spirit’s leading, He sub- mits Himself to spiritual disciplines, and His victory over temptation is in His familiarity with God’s word. He has called us to be His disciples and follow His example.
