The Government of Karnataka with a vision to promote balanced regional development and to improve its linkages has intended to develop green field airports in Shimoga, Gulbarga, Bijapur, Raichur and Kushalnagar, at a priority basis. The total 662.95 acres set out for development, approximately 348.87 acres will be dedicated for airport development & balance 314.08 acres will be utilized in a phased manner for developing it commercially to enhance the profile of the place and to offset the development costs of the airport.
