. RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING AND COMMENDING MS. FOR BEING CROWNED AS 2013 DURING THE FINAL EVENT HELD LAST SEPTEMBER 28, 2013 IN , AND FOR BEING THE FIRST FILIPINA AND SOUTHEAST ASIAN TO WIN THE MISS WORLD

WHEREAS, Miss World beauty pageant, the oldest and one of the most renowned international beauty contests, was created in 1951 in the United Kingdom by Mr. Eric Morley;

WHEREAS, the pageant's winner reigns for a year to represent the Miss World Organization and espouse its causes guided by its ethos, "Beauty With A Purpose" by supporting, among others, children's charities in different countries through various fund-raising activities;

WHEREAS, the Philippines has been sending its official representative to Miss World pageant since 1966 and, prior to 2013, has so far bagged fourteen (14) titles, namely: two (2) First Runners Up, one (1) Second Runner Up, three (3) Fourth Runners Up, and eight (8) Semi-Finalists;

WHEREAS, despite the hard work and exceptional performance of our previous candidates to Miss World, the crown has been seemingly elusive since our country joined the pageant;

WHEREAS, , the 63rd of this annual pageant, was held in Bali, Indonesia and was participated by 127 delegates from various nations of the world;

WHEREAS, the Philippines was represented by Ms. Megan Young who was crowned last August 18, 2013;

WHEREAS, the 23-year old fine and admirable lady hails from City and is a student of Digital Film Making while at the same time pursuing her career as a show business personality and model; .-

WHEREAS, the determined and passionate Ms. Young exhibited outstanding performance in the pageant and consequently earned a number of special awards th including a spot in "Dances of the World", 5 place in "Beach Fashion", 4th place in "Multimedia Challenge", the winner of "Top Model", and the "Continental Queen of Beauty" as Miss World Asia;

WHEREAS, true to her promise to the Filipinos that she will endeavor to bring home the crown, Ms. Young was proclaimed Miss World 2013 last September 28, making her the first Filipina and Southeast Asian to win the title;

WHEREAS, Ms. Young's stunning beauty and remarkable personality combined with intelligence and wit undoubtedly enabled her to attain the long coveted title which she truly deserves;

WHEREAS, throughout her journey to Miss World, Ms. Young radiated the grace, charm and values of Filipinas which emphasizes their physical and inner beauty;

WHEREAS, the triumph of Ms. Young is also the triumph of the entire nation by bringing pride, inspiration, optimism and fortitude to all her countrymen, especially amidst various crises and controversies;

WHEREAS, Ms. Young is a genuine queen in various aspects who marked the history of our country and of the world, and who will definitely touch the lives of many people throughout her reign as Miss World 2013;

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED,AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, that the Senate congratulates and commends Ms. Megan Young for being crowned as Miss World 2013 during the Final event held last September 28, 2013 in Bali, Indonesia and for being the first Filipina and Southeast Asian to win the Miss World beauty pageant.
