Blondie & Garbage: The Rage and Rapture Tour will perform for one night in Muriel Kauffman Theatre on Tuesday, July 18. Tickets for the show range from $79 to $149, and go on sale to the public at 10 a.m. Friday, February 24. ABOUT BLONDIE Singer-songwriter Debbie Harry, guitarist and co-writer Chris Stein, powerhouse drummer Clem Burke and their band- mates in the punk/new wave band Blondie are undeniable pop icons, their sound and sensibility as fresh as when they first topped the charts in the late 1970s. Since their groundbreaking 1978 album Parallel Lines, the members of Blondie have always been a forward-thinking – and forward-moving – group. Abstract approved:_____________________________________________________ Ryann Reynolds-McIlnay The rise of digital streaming has largely impacted the way the average listener consumes music. Consequentially, while the role of album art has evolved to meet the changes in music technology, it is hard to measure the effect of digital streaming on modern album art. This research seeks to determine whether or not graphic design still plays a role in marketing information about the music, such as its genre, to the consumer. It does so through two studies: 1. A computer visual analysis that measures color dominance of an image, and 2. A mixed-design lab experiment with volunteer participants who attempt to assess the genre of a given album. Findings from the first study show that color scheme models created from album samples cannot be used to predict the genre of an album. Further findings from the second theory show that consumers pay a significant amount of attention to album covers, enough to be able to correctly assess the genre of an album most of the time. -

With the Preatures, Tash Sultana and Adalita a day on the green has assembled an epic line-up for its next series of winery concerts. Alt-rock pioneers Garbage and Australia’s own multi-platinum chart toppers The Temper Trap will come together as part of their respective national tours for five outdoor events through November/December. The concerts will feature a stellar under-card with special guests The Preatures, Tash Sultana and Adalita. The five band bill kicks off at Victoria’s Rochford Wines on Saturday November 26. These will be the Garbage’s first Australian shows since 2013 and celebrate their acclaimed sixth studio album Strange Little Birds (out now via Liberator Music). To create Strange Little Birds, their first album in four years, Garbage (Shirley Manson, Steve Marker, Duke Erikson and Butch Vig) drew on a variety of influences including the albums they loved growing up. Read Ebook {PDF EPUB} In Hell by L. Marshall James 8 Bible Verses on Christ’s Descent into Hell. P reviously we examined “Why Did Christ Descend into Hell?” and discussed the four abodes of Hell. On this Holy Saturday, here are eight Bible verses for you to keep near you for apologetic purposes. These eight verses describe the descent of Christ into the Limbo of the Fathers (also known as Abraham’s Bosom). Saint Paul teaches us in Ephesians 4:9 that Christ our Lord descended into Hell after He offered His life on the cross. “Now that He ascended, what is it, but because He also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?” Note here that Hell is described as having “parts” that is the four parts of Hell. Saint Peter said in Acts 2:24 that “God hath raised up Christ, having loosed the sorrows of hell, as it was impossible that He should be holden by it.” Christ loosed the Old Testament saints from hell. Saint Peter also wrote in 1 Peter 3:19 that “Christ coming in spirit preached to those spirits that were in prison, which had some time been incredulous.” On this verse, Saint Athanasius says that “Christ’s body was laid in the sepulchre when He went to preach to those spirits who were in bondage, as Peter said.” (Ep. ad Epict.) The prophet Hosea foretold the descent of Christ into Hell in Hosea 13:14 by placing these words into the mouth of the Messiah: “O death, I will be thy death; O hell, I will be thy bite.” Zechariah foretells the redemption of those in the Limbo of the Fathers in Zech 9:11: “Thou also by the blood of Thy Testament hast sent forth Thy prisoners out of the pit.” What could this mean except that the Messiah would free people from the underworld? Colossians 2:15: “Despoiling the principalities and powers, He hath exposed them confidently.” This refers to Christ’s victory over the condemned angels who are the demons of Hell. -

La première édition du Nice Music Live, organisée en coproduction avec Adam Concerts, a été une véritable réussite grâce notamment à David Guetta, Selah Sue et Lindsey Stirling. J’ai souhaité que cet été s’annonce encore plus inoubliable. C’est une grande fierté pour nous que de voir Maroon 5, Rihanna ou bien encore Coldplay choisir Nice pour leur concert. Les 31 concerts du Nice Jazz Festival avec entres autres Massive Attack, Robert Plant, Mélody Gardot, ou bien encore Ibrahim Maalouf réuniront tous les publics. Fort du succès du Nice Music Live de l’an dernier, j’ai souhaité donner une autre dimension à ce festival toujours en coproduction avec Adam Concerts et 105dB. C’est ainsi que cette année il y aura 6 soirées pour 7 événements sur 2 scènes avec au programme Rodrigo y Gabriela, Maître Gims et BigFlo & Oli, Milky Chance, Broken Back, The Avener et Synapson, Fréro Delavega et Julian Perretta, Louise Attaque et Feu! Chatterton et le projet interactif « Silence Events » dont le concept novateur est d’écouter un concert muni d’un casque audio. Cette programmation, qui saura ravir encore un autre public, démontre que la ville de Nice aime la musique, toutes les musiques et confirme encore un peu plus son statut de destination estivale incontournable. -

Garbage, die Band um die schottische Sängerin Shirley Manson, Duke Erikson, Steve Marker und Butch Vig, kommt zurück nach Deutschland! Nachdem sich die Band in Madison im US-Bundesstaat Wisconsin formiert hatte, ist 1995 ihr selbstbetiteltes Debütalbum erschienen. Die Platte mit Hits wie “Stupid Girl”, “Only Happy When It Rains”, “Queer” und Anderen verkaufte sich mehr als vier Millionen Mal und machte die Band um den erfolgreichen Produzenten Butch Vig - der unter anderem für Nirvanas “Nevermind” verantwortlich war - zu einer der einflussreichsten Alternative-Rock-Bands der USA. Ihr einzigartiger Sound und die provokante visuelle Ästhetik sorgten für weltweite Aufmerksamkeit und Erfolg. Das folgende Album “Version 2.0” überstieg den Erfolg des Debüts noch einmal, erreichte 1998 in vielen Ländern die Charts und wurde gleich in mehreren Kategorien – inklusive “Album des Jahres” - für einen Grammy nominiert. “Version 2.0” bleibt bis heute Garbages kommerziell erfolgreichstes Album.
