Plant Protection Department, Faculty of Agriculture, Assiut University, Egypt ABSTRACT Subfamily Cossoninae is distributed worldwide, with 287 genera based on latest literatures. Species of Cossoninae is found mainly in dead or dying plant parts of trees from pteridophytes to gymnosperms, and dicots, in case of feeding on alive or still sound tissues, the host specificity is high. In Egypt, it has seven genera including ten species. Those genera and species based on their latest position and changes according to latest literatures are Melicius gracilis (Rosenhauer), Melicius cylindrus (Boheman), Hexarthrum culinaris (Germar), Mesites pallidipennis Boheman, Mesites cunipes Boheman, Mesites cunipes var. cribratus Fairmaire, Choerorhinus squalidus Fairmaire, Amaurorhinus bonnairii Fairmaire, Pselactus spadix (Herbst), Micromesites deplanatus Pic. The species of these genera, which recoded in Egypt, is distributed in Mediterranean basin countries except the last species, which recoded only from Egypt. All those species collected from four regions, Maryut, Cairo, Ismailia and Alexandria, which located at North Egypt. They were found under the bark of old trees of willow, plane, mulberry, fig and Tamarix sp. during the whole year except the months of February, October and November. The fauna of Cossoninae probably are not reflecting the reality of which in Egypt, since those are not distributed throughout the country. So many weevil collections are required particularly from Middle and South Egypt in the next studies. Keywords: Taxonomy, Weevils, Curculionidae, Cossoninae, Egypt. INTRODUCTION Earlier, sub-family Cossoninae was treated either as a separated family of the Rhynchophora, subfamily of the Calandridae or a group under sub-family Curculioninae. -

Price1 and Daniel K. Young1 ABSTRACT The first comprehensive survey of Wisconsin Endomychidae was initiated in 1998. Throughout Wisconsin sampling sites were selected based on habitat type and sampling history. Wisconsin endomychids were hand collected from fungi and under tree bark; successful trapping methods included cantharidin- baited pitfall traps, flight intercept traps, and Lindgren funnel traps. Examina- tion of literature records, museum and private collections, and field research yielded 10 species, three of which are new state records. Two dubious records, Epipocus unicolor Horn and Stenotarsus hispidus (Herbst), could not be con- firmed. -

The seven species of stag beetles of the Romanian fauna are present in the coleopteran collection of the Museum: Aesalus scarabaeoides scarabaeoides (Panzer), Ceruchus chrysomelinus (Hochenwarth), Sinodendron cylindricum (Linnaeus), Lucanus cervus cervus (Linnaeus), Platycerus caraboides caraboides (Linnaeus), Platycerus caprea (De Geer) and Dorcus parallelipipedus (Linnaeus). Information on the collecting data and distribution maps are given for each species. We present the male and female habitus for the two species of Platycerus. Résumé. Les sept espèces de lucanes de la faune de Roumanie sont présentes dans la collection des coléoptères du muséum: Aesalus scarabaeoides scarabaeoides (Panzer), Ceruchus chrysomelinus (Hochenwarth), Sinodendron cylindricum (Linnaeus), Lucanus cervus cervus (Linnaeus), Platycerus caraboides caraboides (Linnaeus), Platycerus caprea (De Geer) et Dorcus parallelipipedus (Linnaeus). On donne des informations sur les données de la capture et les cartes de distribution pour chaque espèce. Nous présentons les photos de l’habitus mâle et femelle pour les deux espèces de Platycerus. INTRODUCTION From the 17 stag beetle species and subspecies of Europe, in the Romanian fauna there are only seven species: Aesalus scarabaeoides scarabaeoides (Panzer), Ceruchus chrysomelinus (Hochenwarth), Sinodendron cylindricum (Linnaeus), Lucanus cervus cervus (Linnaeus), Platycerus caraboides caraboides (Linnaeus), Platycerus caprea (De Geer) and Dorcus parallelipipedus (Linnaeus), included in four subfamilies, according to the Catalogue of the Palaearctic Coleoptera (Bartolozzi & Sprecher-Uebersax, 2006). -

Ils se développent sur les rives sablonneuses acides, parfois graveleuses ou plus rarement dans les zones vaseuses. Un immersion hivernale suivie d’une exondation estivale relative des plages abritant ces communautés (eau quasiment affleurante) est indispensable au développement de cet habitat. La fraction organique des substrats est en principe peu élevée, mais nous avons rencontré des stations dans lesquelles une certaine épaisseur de débris végétaux était présente, ce qui devenait préjudiciable aux tapis de Littorelles. -
