З’ясовано її та- ксономічне положення і філогенетичні зв ’язки . Визначено , що подія морфологічної зміни у будові скелетів Globorotalia menardii має глобальне значення із діахронним зміщенням у часі з тенденцією до омолодження і залежить від змін умов навколиш- нього середовища . Еволюційна мінливість цього таксону полягає у виявленні різно- маніття морфологічних параметрів скелетів ( розмір черепашки , висота спіралі , кіль- кість камер в останньому оберті , наявність чи відсутність кіля , шипів та ін .) від Се- редземномор ’я, тропічної Атлантики до східної частини тропічної зони Тихого й Ін- дійського океанів за останні 13 млн років . В екоінтервалі ( буглівські верстви , с. Ван- жулів ) цей вид виявлено у вигляді двох генерацій : 1 – пізньобаденська , черепашка дрібних розмірів (0.47 мм ), з меншою кількістю камер в останньому оберті (6–7,5), з кілем , оснащеним шипами , стінка -

Azhar University-Gaza, Palestine After that year tell now, one planktic foraminiferal species Plummerita haggagae was erected from Egypt (Misr), two new benthic foraminiferal genera Leroyia (with its 3 species) Correspondence: Haidar Salim Anan, Emirates Professor of and Lenticuzonaria (2 species), and another 18 agglutinated species, 3 porcelaneous, 26 Stratigraphy and Micropaleontology, Al Azhar University-Gaza, Lagenid and 18 Rotaliid species. All these species were recorded from Maastrichtian P. O. Box 1126, Palestine, Email and/or Paleogene benthic foraminiferal species. Thirty nine species of them were erected originally from Egypt (about 58 %), 17 species from the United Arab Emirates, UAE (about Received: May 06, 2021 | Published: June 25, 2021 25 %), 8 specie from Pakistan (about 11 %), 2 species from Jordan, and 1 species from each of Tunisia, France, Spain and USA. More than one species have wide paleogeographic distribution around the Northern and Southern Tethys, i.e. Bathysiphon saidi (Egypt, UAE, Hungary), Clavulina pseudoparisensis (Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Arabian Gulf), Miliammina kenawyi, Pseudoclavulina hamdani, P. hewaidyi, Saracenaria leroyi and Hemirobulina bassiounii (Egypt, UAE), Tritaxia kaminskii (Spain, UAE), Orthokarstenia nakkadyi (Egypt, Tunisia, France, Spain), Nonionella haquei (Egypt, Pakistan). -
Tasmanian Tertiary Foraminifera

Quilty West Australian Petroleum Pty. Limited, Perth, W.A. (with four plates) ABSTRACT Foraminifera of the Suborders Textulariina and Miliolina and the Superfamily Nodosariacea are recorded from samples of all known Tasmanian marine Oligo-Miocene sections. Thirteen species of agglutinated foraminifera are identified specifically and one category is left in open nomenclature. Thirty species of porcellanous foraminifera (including CrenuZostomina banksi n. gen., n. sp.) are recorded and there are eight open categories. The Nodosariacea is represented by 63 identified species (including Lagena tasmaniae n. sp.) and 10 categories in open nomenclature. Information on each species includes original citation, synonymy of Australian identifications, remarks where necessary and occurrence and age in Tasmania. All identified forms are figured. INTRODUCTION AND ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS The stratigraphy of the Tasmanian Tertiary Marine succession has been reviewed by Quilty (1972). The results noted in that paper are based on foraminiferal studies conducted at the University of Tasmania. Localities, sample numbers etc., mentioned here are detailed further in Quilty (op. cit.) and this paper should be read in company with that paper. This paper is the first of a projected series of three papers documenting the Tasmanian Tertiary foraminifera. Classification adopted in these papers follows closely that proposed by Loeblich and Tappan (1964a) and reviewed by them (1964b) but differs in minor respects which will be indicated where necessary. Quilty (op. cit.) noted that the first record of Tasmanian Tertiary foraminifera was by Goddard and Jensen (1907). -

E-mail: [email protected] Abstract We describe for the first time subtropical intertidal foraminiferal assemblages from beach sands on São Vincente, Cape Verdes. Sixty-five benthic foraminiferal species were recognised, representing 47 genera, 31 families, and 8 superfamilies. Endemic species were not recognised. The new checklist largely extends an earlier record of nine benthic foraminiferal species from fossil carbonate sands on the island. Bolivina striatula, Rosalina vilardeboana and Millettiana milletti dominated the living (rose Bengal stained) fauna, while Elphidium crispum, Amphistegina gibbosa, Quinqueloculina seminulum, Ammonia tepida, Triloculina rotunda and Glabratella patelliformis dominated the dead assemblages. The living fauna lacks species typical for coarse-grained substrates. Instead, there were species that had a planktonic stage in their life cycle. The living fauna therefore received a substantial contribution of floating species and propagules that may have endured a long transport by surface ocean currents. The dead assemblages largely differed from the living fauna and contained redeposited tests deriving from a rhodolith-mollusc carbonate facies at <20 m water depth. -

PLANKTONIC FORAMINIFER BIOSTRATIGRAPHY AND THE DEVELOPMENT OF PELAGIC CAPS ON GUYOTS IN THE MARSHALL ISLANDS GROUP1 Paul N. Pearson2 ABSTRACT Five guyots were drilled on Ocean Drilling Program Leg 144, three of which possess thick caps of pelagic sediment. These guyots (Limalok, Site 871; Lo-En, Site 872; and Wodejebato, Site 873) belong to the Marshall Islands group of seamounts. Pelagic sediments of late Oligocene to Holocene age were recovered from them. In each case, the sediment was found to be unconsolidated on recovery and contain very abundant planktonic foraminifers, particularly in the >150-µm size range. Preservation of tests is generally good, with most showing only minor signs of dissolution or recrystallization, although many samples have a high proportion of fragmented material in the fine fraction. Planktonic foraminifer faunas are diverse and consist predominantly of warm-water species. A typically western Pacific fauna occurs throughout the Miocene. Biostratigraphic assignment was generally straightforward except for the bottommost interval of the pelagic caps where severe reworking (sediment mixing) is a common feature. A significant hiatus was found at each site between drowning of the carbonate platform and the onset of pelagic sediment accumulation. Thus, the platforms were apparently swept clean of sediments, with the exception of isolated ponds, until subsidence took the guyots sufficiently deep for sediment to accumulate in large quantities. Backtracking of subsidence paths for each guyot suggests that pelagic cap formation began at depths of between 700 and 1000 mbsl. -

Eleven ostracod species were identified in the genera Cytherella Jones, Cytherelloidea Alexander, Eocytheropteron Alexander, Semicytherura Wagner, Paracosta Siddiqui, Buntonia Howe, Soudanella Apostolescu, Leguminocythereis Howe and, probably, Pataviella Liebau. The planktonic foraminifera are represented by the genera Guembelitria Cushman, Parvularugoglobigerina Hofker, Woodringina Loeblich and Tappan, Heterohelix Ehrenberg, Zeauvigerina Finlay, Muricohedbergella Huber and Leckie, and Praemurica Olsson, Hemleben, Berggren and Liu. The ostracods and foraminifera analyzed indicate an inner shelf paleoenvironment for the studied section. Blooms of Guembelitria spp., which indicate either shallow environments or upwelling zones, were also recorded reinforcing previous paleoenvironmental interpretations based on other fossil groups for this basin. -

Glaciations and cold climate played a special role in radiolarian evolution. Radiolarians, which were typical for warm interglacial periods (greenhouse) disappeared during interglacial to glacial transition intervals (icehouse), and vice versa. Some possible regularities that resulted in increase radiolarian interglacial biodiversity, could be circumstanced by stabilization of climate and enhanced oceanic production. Biological mechanism, explaining these events, may be caused by phenomenon of solitary population waves (Kovalev, 2007). New species constantly appear under both favourable and severe conditions. Therefore, it is in- correct to propose that changes in global climatic conditions necessarily result in general deterioration of conditions in the habitats of all species. A crisis for some taxa is a chance for others (Kovalev et al., 2007; Chernykh et al., 2007). New morphological formations occurred usually under general stress. They probably invaded into global radiolarian fauna like a pandemic virus and instantaneously mi- grated to populations of remote water areas. Processes of expansion of species with morphological and/or physiological innovations into new ecological systems and adaptation to new niches are re- garded as different phases of existence of populations. -

Three New Records of Recent Benthic Foraminifera from Korea

However, previous studies on foraminifera in Korea mostly focused on geological and paleoecological fields and were conducted in a limited area. Therefore, there is a high possibility for discovering new and unrecor- ded species. Here we describe three newly recorded foraminiferal species from the southwestern part of Jeju Island during a survey on the meiofaunal community, which belongs to three different genera (Ammobaculites, Cylindroclavulina, Saracenaria), three families (Lituolidae, Vaginulinidae, Valvulinidae), and three orders (Lituolida, Textulariida, Vaginulinida): Ammobaculites formosensis Nakamura, 1937, Cylindroclavulina bradyi (Cushman, 1911), and Saracenaria hannoverana (Franke, 1936). These species have been reported from Chinese region in the East China Sea, however this is the first report from Korean waters. Particularly, Cylindroclavulina bradyi is the first report of the genus Cylindroclavulina in Korean waters. The present study supports the diversity of foraminiferal species in Korea, and the necessity of further surveys in Korean waters. Foraminiferal wall micro/ultra-structures of Recent and well-preserved Jurassic (Bathonian) foraminifers of distinct for- aminiferal high-rank taxonomic groups, Globothalamea (Rotaliida, Robertinida, and Textulariida), Miliolida, Spirillinata and Lagenata, are presented. Both calcite-cemented agglutinated and entirely calcareous foraminiferal walls have been investigated. Original test ultra-structures of Jurassic foraminifers are given for the first time. “Monocrystalline” wall-type which characterizes the class Spirillinata is documented in high resolution imaging. Globothalamea, Lagenata, porcel- aneous representatives of Tubothalamea and Spirillinata display four different major types of wall-structure which may be related to distinct calcification processes. It confirms that these distinct molecular groups evolved separately, probably from single-chambered monothalamids, and independently developed unique wall types. Studied Jurassic simple bilocular taxa, characterized by undivided spiralling or irregular tubes, are composed of miliolid-type needle-shaped crystallites. [email protected] RESUMEN La aparión de conchas de praeglobotruncánidos tuvo un desarrollo iterativo en tres géneros/linajes direccionales durante el intervalo Albiense tardío-Santoniense. Se describe un nuevo género/linaje direccional, Bermudeziana, y una nueva especie, Fingeria praeglo- botruncaniformis. Como herramienta para describir los cambios morfológicos dentro de una misma estirpe y comparar el desarrollo en distintos linajes en los cuales ciertas características se alcanzaron de forma independiente, se desarrolla un nuevo sistema de tipos de especies obteniéndose una clasificación evolutiva.
