WORK HISTORY

2009-2020 Freelance Stage Manager

I have worked successfully as a Freelance Stage Manager in Theatre Industry for over 10 years. I was headhunted before finishing my degree by the largest and most important theatre in the UK and have progressed from an Assistant Stage Manager to a Stage Manager working on some of the most expensive and complex theatre productions from the last decade. I work with high profile Directors, Writers and Actors and ensure a show opens and maintains an exceptional quality. It is my job to ensure our audience are always getting the best possible experience for their money. • Scheduling and coordinating every aspect of a theatre production from early concept through to final performance. • Operational responsibility of departmental budgets throughout the process to ensure the production opens on time and within budget, budgets can be upwards of £1m. • Coordinating all staff rotas and schedules via excel spreadsheets to ensure an acting company are exactly where they need to be and within their contracted hours, my largest cast to date was 325 performers. • In charge of the health and safety of the acting company and stage crew throughout the production process. Generating risk assessments and ensuring they are completed and adhered to. Theatre is the second most dangerous industry after construction making this a critical undertaking. • Requiring confidence, clarity and exceptional public speaking. Management of all stage operations in a highly dangerous working environment with often upwards of 100 people onsite. • Generating complex paperwork such as schedules and budgets using Microsoft office and Auto Cad. • Responding to upwards of 100 emails daily from various department heads and colleagues. Time management crucial assessing where my time is best used and delegating where appropriate. Partnership working with internal and external stakeholders to ensure a theatre production is finically and Strong core work ethic will at times have to work upwards of 70 hours a week to achieve a deadline. Am used to working weekends, bank holidays and evenings.

Spearheaded an environmental campaign at the National Theatre reducing carbon footprint by 27% and increasing recycling by 64%. Ran a four-week Young Stage Managers course teaching up 20 14-20 year olds the core skills of Stage Management for 2 years.
