Am I the only one who's noticed that the Oscars have become a bit contrived lately? Every year if s the same hosts, the same inflated egos, the same boring com- mercials, and we all know that something starring Tom Hanks is going to win. The only thing that ever changes is how many hours the show can run overtime. Even more ridiculous is the fact that it doesn't matter if you win or lose; what matters is who designed your gown or tux. What the show needs is a new host (I suggest Denise Richards, and if she's not available, any of the girls from American Pie will do), ditch the lame song performances and offer a few new categories (does any- one really care who wins best documentary?).
