2 Introduction from the Editors Cambridge University Press has a centuries old tradition of publishing in mathematics, with an unrivalled reputation for editorial and production quality. We’ve published Isaac Newton, through to G.H. Hardy and J.E. Littlewood, and the modern era with Fields medallists such as , , , and Terry Tao.

Today our journal publishing includes some 19 titles covering pure mathematics, many of which we publish on behalf of learned societies or institutions. Cambridge has built substantial expertise in the publishing of mathematics, and the particular characteristics of the subject that any publishing strategy must address. We understand how mathematics is communicated, whether the audience is made up of students, researchers, or educators. In a rapidly changing world we’re also committed to innovation, establishing the , Pi and Sigma as the premier gold journals in mathematics.

From 2019, Cambridge publishes two journals on behalf of the Canadian Mathematical Society, notably, the Canadian Journal of Mathematics and Canadian Mathematical Bulletin. For any questions about our journal publishing please get in touch with Kathleen Too ([email protected]), or Samira Ceccarelli ([email protected]).

FirstView At Cambridge, we are proud to offer FirstView, our online ahead of print publishing option, for many of our pure mathematics titles. FirstView allows a paper to be published, and cited, as soon as it is ready for publication, before it is assigned to a particular journal issue, thus decreasing the time between acceptance and publication. Journals using FirstView are marked with the icon: FirstView

Open Access from Cambridge Journals A number of funding agencies and institutions now mandate Open Access (OA) publication of work which they support. Cambridge is fully compliant with the requirements of NIH, The Wellcome Trust, UKRC, HHMI and many others. Our standard copyright forms allow OA Archiving (for instance posting the accepted manuscript in an institutional repository or on a personal webpage). Authors can also choose to publish OA (making articles freely available for non-commercial use) in a large number of our journals. Cambridge offer discounts and waivers for publishing Open Access, including those negotiated by your institution as part of a read and publish agreement. Sigma Forum of Mathematics, Sigma is the open access alternative to the leading specialist mathematics journals. Editorial decisions are made by dedicated clusters of editors concentrated in the following areas: foundations of mathematics, discrete mathematics, algebra, , algebraic and complex geometry, differential geometry and geometric analysis, topology, analysis, probability, differential equations, computational mathematics, applied analysis, mathematical physics, and theoretical computer science. This classification exists to aid the process. Contributions which do not neatly fit within these categories are still welcome.

4 Compositio Mathematica Produced, marketed and distributed for the London Mathematical Society

Compositio Mathematica is a prestigious, well-established journal publishing first-class research papers that traditionally focus on the mainstream of pure mathematics. The journal has a broad scope which includes the fields of algebra, number theory, topology, algebraic and analytic geometry and (geometric) analysis. Papers on other topics are welcome if they are of broad interest. All contributions are required to meet high standards of quality and originality. Compositio has an international editorial board reflected in the journal content.

Online access is free for all papers published 5 years ago or more. Papers published before 1997 are available from the NUMDAM website. Continuous Publication Compositio is owned and published by non-profit organisations (the Foundation Compositio Mathematica and the London Mathematical Society) that use any surplus income from journal subscriptions to sponsor mathematics and mathematical research. cambridge.org/com

Canadian Mathematical Bulletin Published on behalf of the Canadian Mathematical Society

The Canadian Mathematical Bulletin was established in 1958 to publish original, high-quality research papers in all branches of mathematics and to accommodate the growing demand for shorter research papers. The Bulletin is a companion publication to the Canadian Journal of Mathematics that publishes longer papers. New research papers are published in FirstView and collated into online and print issues four times each year. cambridge.org/bcm FirstView

Glasgow Mathematical Journal Published for the Glasgow Mathematical Journal Trust

Glasgow Mathematical Journal publishes original research papers in any branch of pure and applied mathematics. An international journal, its policy is to feature a wide variety of research areas, which in recent issues have included ring theory, , functional analysis, combinatorics, differential equations, differential geometry, number theory, algebraic topology, and the application of such methods in applied mathematics. cambridge.org/gmj

6 FirstView Mathematical Proceedings of the Cambridge Philosophical Society Published for the Cambridge Philosophical Society

Mathematical Proceedings is one of the few high-quality journals publishing original research papers that cover the whole range of pure and applied mathematics, theoretical physics and statistics. All branches of pure mathematics are covered, in particular logic and foundations, number theory, algebra, geometry, algebraic and geometric topology, classical and functional analysis, dynamical systems, probability and statistics. On the applied side, mechanics, mathematical physics, relativity and cosmology are included. cambridge.org/psp FirstView

Proceedings of the Royal Society of Edinburgh, Section A: Mathematics Marketed and distributed for The Royal Society of Edinburgh

A flagship publication of the Royal Society of Edinburgh, Proceedings A is a prestigious, general mathematics journal publishing papers of international standard across the whole spectrum of mathematics, but with the emphasis on applied analysis and differential equations.

An international journal, publishing six issues per year, Proceedings A has been publishing the highest-quality mathematical research for nearly 70 years. Recent issues have included a wealth of key contributors and considered research papers. FirstView cambridge.org/prm

Proceedings of the Edinburgh Mathematical Society Published for the Edinburgh Mathematical Society
