At 5:30 p.m., we will carpool to Bridge Communities in Glen Ellyn for the rally with music and speakers, and return here around 8:30 p.m. The rest of the night will include other activities and a bonfire at SJN. The event will conclude with 7:30 a.m. Mass in the morning. Students should bundle up with coats, under-armor, gloves, hats, etc. In addition, students should bring non- perishable food items for the SJN Food Collection for the Salvation Army as well as cardboard boxes to sleep in (check out local furniture stores).

All high school students are invited. Come join us and get a taste of what it's like to be homeless.

Guys and girls will sleep in separate locations on the rectory's lawn.

St. John Neumann Parish Theme for 2018-2019

Resting in the Healing Heart of Jesus Thirsting and hungering man, Escape from your everyday business for a short while. Hide for a moment from your restless thoughts. Break off from your cares and troubles, and Be less concerned about your tasks and labors. Make time for God and rest in him. Enter into your mind’s chamber. Shut out everything but God. And when you have shut the door look for him. Speak now to God and say with your whole heart “I seek your face, Oh Lord. Your face I desire.”

What are the hungers and thirsts in my life that can be satisfied only by God? (Growth? Silence? Acceptance from self or others? Hunger for God? Trust of God?) How can I discover, too, the many ways that I try to fill those hungers and thirsts with things that do not really satisfy them? How will God respond to the thirsting and hungering in my life? Consider answering these questions after reflecting on Isaiah 55 (An Invitation to Grace) or Luke 18:35- 43 (The Healing of the Blind Beggar).

Based on a prayer by St. Anselm as related by Fr. Tom Shanahan, S.J., Creighton University Audio Retreat, Talk Number 1.

ALL FAMILY COSTUME PARTY - On Sunday, October 28, from 6:30-8:30 p.m., in the Hoffmann Center, the High School Youth Group will be hosting an All Saints Family Costume Party. Similar to Trunk-or- Treat, preschool through 5th grade children and their parents are invited to walk up to booths to collect candy and hear about various Saints. There will also be free popcorn, apple cider, crafts, face painting, and games. Come in your Halloween costume and bring a candy bucket and friends!
