Hide for a moment from your restless thoughts. Break off from your cares and troubles, and Be less concerned about your tasks and labors. Make time for God and rest in him. Enter into your mind’s chamber. Shut out everything but God. And when you have shut the door look for him. Speak now to God and say with your whole heart “I seek your face, Oh Lord. Your face I desire.” What are the hungers and thirsts in my life that can be satisfied only by God? (Growth? Silence? Acceptance from self or others? Hunger for God? Trust of God?) How can I discover, too, the many ways that I try to fill those hungers and thirsts with things that do not really satisfy them? How will God respond to the thirsting and hungering in my life? Consider answering these questions after reflecting on Isaiah 55 (An Invitation to Grace) or Luke 18:35- 43 (The Healing of the Blind Beggar).
