DOWNEY – The Downey Police Department will be conducting roving DUI patrols this month, looking for drivers suspected of being under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Drivers caught driving impaired and charged with DUI face an overage of $13,500 in fines and penalties, as well as a suspended license. Drivers are also reminded that while medicinal and recreational marijuana are legal, driving under its influence remains prohibited. National Night Out returns

DOWNEY – Downey will host its eighth annual National Night Out celebration on Tuesday, Aug. 3, from 5:30-8:30 pm at the Civic Center. The free community event is celebrated across the country the first Tuesday in August.
