GREER HILL BREAKS NICKI TURNER RECORD

Greer Hill, currently based in the UK, became our club’s highest women’s career run scorer. She started the season 11 runs behind Nicki Turner (2,843 runs) and finished with 2,849 runs over 160 innings for Sydenham.

Greer first played for Sydenham in 1994 and featured on many of our club trophies until she left for the UK in 2005. On her recent trip home to NZ, Greer dusted off her cricket gear and joined our T20 women’s team in two games. Requiring just 12 runs to pass Nicki Turner, Greer scored 8 not out in her first game, with not enough runs required in the chase to reach her goal. She returned the following week to take out the honours at Heathcote Domain.

Obtaining any record is a momentous achievement but surpassing a legend of the game like Nicki Turner is simply sublime. Congratulations Greer! Beyond the Boundary April 2019
