DWHS84 Digital Reference Design Tri-Band (2.4/5.2/5.8 GHZ) Multi-purpose Headset/Headphone Reference Design

Summary Microchip’s DWHS84 wireless audio reference design is based on our DARR84 audio processor chipset and provides a simple and flexible “go-to-market” headset and headphone application design. The DWHS84 allows for both audio and inputs to process headset/ headphone signals and supports multiple RF bands and frequencies within each RF band (2.4, 5.2 and 5.8 GHz), making it well-suited to effectively manage the interference commonly associated with Wi-Fi®, ® and microwave ovens, and other sources. The DWHS84 reference design integrates 1 MB SPI Flash, enabling Microchip’s KleerNet™ technology interoperability platform which allows for connectivity across products and brands. This is accomplished via a software stack offering multiple use cases, making it an excellent low-power headset/headphone solution. Microchip’s distinct Highlights architecture allows for multi-player gaming scenarios ■■ Utilizes the DARR84 highly-integrated for Xbox®, PS3™ and Nintendo® gaming systems. The baseband processor integrated Sample Rate Converter supports multiple audio ■■ Supports two uncompressed stereo audio channels sample rates and the dual PCB antennas provide Tx and ■■ Reference design supports multiple RF bands in a Rx diversity, achieving indoor ranges of approximately 60m “go-to-market”, small-footprint package (2.4 GHz) and 3m (5.8 GHz).
