YEMEN: Al Hudaydah Update Situation Report No. 7 Reporting period: 27 June - 4 July 2018 This report is produced by OCHA in collaboration with humanitarian partners. It is issued by the OCHA Yemen office. The next report will be issued when additional information on the emergency becomes available. I. HIGHLIGHTS/KEY PRIORITIES • Multiple airstrikes were reported in Al Hudaydah City and Zabid City after days of relative decrease in airstrikes. • Displacement from Al Hudaydah Governorate continues; humanitarian partners have verified more than 17,350 households (over 121,000 people) being displaced since 1 June. • More than 10,000 displaced households (nearly 80,000 people) have been assisted with food, emergency kits and other life-saving support. • Pre-positioning of emergency stocks continues and major efforts are being made to prevent an escalation of cholera. II. Situation Overview After days of relative calm, multiple airstrikes were reported in several locations in Al Hudaydah City near the airport as well as the Sana’a – Al Hudaydah road. Intensive airstrikes were also reported on 4 July in the southern Zaid District. Humanitarian partners are present in Al Hudaydah, and convoys enter and exit the city without too much difficulties. However, many roads within the city remain blocked to civilian traffic and accessing many parts of the city requires negotiations and deconfliction. The pace of displacement from Al Hudaydah Governorate has slowed down, but some families that can afford public transport or own vehicles continue to leave Al Hudaydah City and other frontline districts to seek shelter in safer areas, including in the capital, Sana’a.

  • Flash Floods Flash Update No
YEMEN: Flash Floods Flash Update No. 2 As of 19 August 2019 SITUATION OVERVIEW Photos credit: SCI Al Hudaydah Rains intensified in recent weeks across the country, leading to a sharp increase in the number of families affected by flash floods and damage to shelter and infrastructure, including water networks. While most western governorates were affected by the heavy rains, Al Hudaydah and Al Mahwit have suffered the most damage – particularly in Az Zaydiyah, Al Hali, Al Khawkhah and Al Qanawis districts in Al Hudaydah and Milhan District in Al Mahwit. IDPs and host communities in these areas saw their shelters, houses, livestock and livelihoods washed away in the floods. Overall, IDP sites have been most impacted, forcing many to seek shelter in public buildings, including schools, or with relatives. In Sana’a Governorate, heavy rains and floods damaged shelters in IDP sites in Hamdan and Bani Hushaysh districts. Several IDP sites in Al Jawf, Al Mahwit, Amran, Dhamar, Ibb, Hajjah, Al Hudaydah and Taizz governorates also suffered damage. Flash floods were reported within the Red Sea Coast area and Taizz Governorate. Partners are carrying out assessments to determine overall needs and targeted response to affected families. NAMCHA appealed to the humanitarian community for assistance to 1,400 IDPs families affected by the floods and in need of urgent assistance. In some areas, floodwaters polluted safe drinking water sources and caused significant damage to the water networks resulting in an increased need for water trucking assistance as well as chlorine tablets and water containers. Overflowing wastewater and stagnant water will also increase the risk of waterborne or vector- borne diseases in these areas, including cholera.
