Abstract 350 words maximum: (PLEASE TYPE) Brazil is one of the world's largest emitters of CO2. However, given its unique emissions profile, which results from its high proportion of land-use related emissions together with the potential availability of renewable energy sources, Brazil possesses enormo s potential to reduce its CO2 emissions and transit to a low-carbon economy. As part of its efforts to mitigate climate change, the Brazilian Government has developed an ambitious voluntary greenhouse gas emissions reduction target and a climate change policy, the Brazilian Climate Change Policy, which foresees that a future Brazilian Emission Reduction Market could be part of the country's efforts to reduce emissions. However, to date, there has been no fonnal adoption of such a market or any governmental indicatior f how it should operate. This thesis examines the possible development and application of an emissions trading scheme (ETS) in the Brazilian context and analyses whether an ETS would be relevant to assist Brazil in reducing its greenhouse gas emissions. In particular, the thesis addresses the question of what is the most appropriate legal framework for securing environmental integrity in a future Brazilian ETS.

    The Holy See BENEDICT XVI GENERAL AUDIENCE St. Peter's Square Wednesday, 5 October 2011 [Video] Psalm 23 Dear Brothers and Sisters, Turning to the Lord in prayer implies a radical act of trust, in the awareness that one is entrusting oneself to God who is good, “merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness” (Ex 34:6-7; Ps 86[85]:15; cf. Joel 2:13; Jon 4:2; Ps 103 [102]:8; 145[144]:8; Neh 9:17). For this reason I would like to reflect with you today on a Psalm that is totally imbued with trust, in which the Psalmist expresses his serene certainty that he is guided and protected, safe from every danger, because the Lord is his Shepherd. It is Psalm 23 [22, according to the Greco-Latin numbering], a text familiar to all and loved by all. “The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want”: the beautiful prayer begins with these words, evoking the nomadic environment of sheep-farming and the experience of familiarity between the shepherd and the sheep that make up his little flock. The image calls to mind an atmosphere of trust, intimacy and tenderness: the shepherd knows each one of his sheep and calls them by name; and they follow him because they recognize him and trust in him (cf. Jn 10:2-4). He tends them, looks after them as precious possessions, ready to defend them, to guarantee their well-being and enable them to live a peaceful life. They can lack nothing as long as the shepherd is with them.

Non vi nascondo di averci pensato per molto tempo, dubbioso, circa i tanti aspetti su cui avrei dovuto soffermarmi e una delle domande che mi sono subito posto è stata: ma oltre alla figura di padre modello che io conoscevo, cos'altro conosco della vita di mio padre? E qui ho avuto delle perplessità ..... sì dico perplessità perché tutti i padri presumo hanno un determinato comportamento con i figli, dettato dal ruolo, c'è chi lo fà con più severità e chi meno, chi è pedante e chi meno, chi è accondiscendente e chi meno e via dicendo ma sicuramente tutti si apprestano a svolgere questo compito basilare con uno sconfinato e immenso amore !!! Ma un padre oltre a questo è anche un “uomo”ed è proprio il profilo umano, di uomo tra gli uomini, che mi ha portato ad iniziare questo lavoro, oserei dire di ricerca, esegetico, di tutti gli scritti e archiviazioni varie che con pazienza e passione certosina egli aveva iniziato ed implementato nei vari anni della sua vita. Ho avuto la fortuna di crescere in una famiglia molto unita, sotto tutti gli aspetti. Mio padre apparteneva a quelle belle famiglie di una volta, numerose: erano otto figli, madre, padre e “zizì” a carico (una zia di mia padre, sorella minore di mia nonna, la quale viveva sotto lo stesso tetto a causa di lievi problemi invalidanti) e come tradizione comanda, tutti i figli maschi e dico tutti nessuno escluso, hanno ereditato dal padre l'arte della lavorazione del legno.
