Przez wiêksz¹ czêæ ¿ycia zwi¹- zany z Poznaniem, gdzie zda³ maturê (1946), odby³ formacjê seminaryjn¹ (1947- -1950) i przyj¹³ wiêcenia kap³añskie (1950), póniej pracowa³ duszpastersko jako wikariusz w parafii w. Miko³aja (1953-1954), przez dwie dekady by³ kape- lanem kolejnych pasterzy Kocio³a poznañskiego arcybiskupów Walentego Dymka (1954-1956) i Antoniego Baraniaka (1957-1973) – na koniec biskupem pomocniczym u boku tego ostatniego oraz arcybiskupa Jerzego Stroby, wikariu- szem generalnym (1975-1981) i prepozytem kapitu³y metropolitalnej (1973- -1981), a w okresie wakatu od sierpnia 1977 roku do padziernika 1978 roku wikariuszem kapitulnym i rz¹dc¹ archidiecezji, na trwa³e wpisa³ siê on w dzieje lokalnego Kocio³a. Jego dokonania na tym polu zapewne doczekaj¹ siê prêdzej czy póniej pióra monografisty, który uka¿e je w pe³niejszym wietle, zgroma- dziwszy rozproszone wiadectwa do tematyki, wszak¿e nim kto zdobêdzie siê na opracowanie wyczerpuj¹cej biografii zmar³ego w dniu 16 padziernika 2009 roku hierarchy1, wpierw mo¿na spodziewaæ siê publikacji rozmaitych wspomnieñ 1 Notabene jego zgon przypad³ w kolejn¹ rocznicê wyboru na Stolicê Piotrow¹ Jana Paw³a II, w którym to dniu M. Przykucki wspó³przewodniczy³ w roku 1978 uroczystociom pogrzebowym w archikatedrze poznañskiej kardyna³a Boles³awa Filipiaka (zob.: K.R. W obecnym artykule przedstawione zostan¹ w zarysie dzieje biskupstwa ty- tularnego, nadanego temu pasterzowi Kocio³a u progu jego obecnoci w gronie nastêpców aposto³ów (tytulariuszem Glenndálocha, o tej bowiem stolicy mowa, Marian Przykucki by³ przez ca³y okres pos³ugi w archidiecezji poznañskiej w charakterze biskupa pomocniczego do momentu nominacji na ordynariusza che³miñskiego). Podejmowany tu w¹tek mo¿e czytelnikom zdaæ siê cokolwiek „egzotyczny”, jako ¿e chodzi o biskupstwo istniej¹ce niegdy w wiekach red- nich w odleg³ej Irlandii, którego losy w zasadzie nie maj¹ nic wspólnego z dziejami Kocio³a w Polsce, poza w³anie tym faktem, ¿e w czasach wspó³czes- nych tytu³ owej stolicy zosta³ nadany reprezentantowi polskiego episkopatu3. W odnonym kontekcie nale¿y jednak zwróciæ uwagê, ¿e jakkolwiek w rodzi- mej historiografii kocielnej dotychczas rzeczywicie niewiele uwagi powiêca- no problematyce biskupstw tytularnych, nadawanych w ci¹gu stuleci hierarchom ustanawianym do pos³ugi w polskich diecezjach, to jednak w obcojêzycznym pimiennictwie jest to tematyka maj¹ca wcale obfit¹ literaturê przedmiotu. Sk¹d- in¹d kwestiê tê podj¹³ ju¿ przed wiekiem niejako na marginesie zasadniczych dociekañ ks. Natomiast dla czasów nowo¿ytnych oraz najnowszych bodaj nikt w polskiej historiografii nie pokusi³ siê o próbê ca³ociowego spojrzenia na ow¹ problematykê, która na to zas³uguje; przypatru- j¹c siê bowiem gronu episkopatu tytularnego z doby staropolskiej, nietrudno do- strzec np. wystêpuj¹c¹ praktykê d³ugotrwa³ego z³¹czenia tytu³ów niektórych stolic biskupich in partibus infidelium z konkretnymi sufraganiami (Gniezno Theodosia, Kraków Laodicea, Lwów Nicopolis, P³ock Lacedaemon, Po- znañ Aenos, Wilno Methone, W³oc³awek Maraga vel Margarita), podobnie jak i mianowania kolejno kilku pod rz¹d biskupów z danego kraju, jakkolwiek z ró¿nych diecezji, z nadaniem tej samej stolicy tytularnej6. W obcych historiografiach jak nadmieniono stwierdziæ mo¿na obecnoæ publikacji podejmuj¹cych tego rodzaju zagadnienie czy to w postaci monogra- ficznej7, czy przynajmniej w formie zestawieñ chronologicznych, wzbogaconych o biogramy poszczególnych tytulariuszy8. Na gruncie rodzimym pisz¹cy te s³o- wa og³osi³ kilka artyku³ów i przyczynków z owego zakresu, które winny u³atwiæ w przysz³oci opracowanie s³ownika historyczno-geograficznego stolic tytular- nych, nadawanych w ci¹gu wieków polskim biskupom9. Thousands of pilgrims from the new saints’ home countries – Italy, El Salvador, Spain and Germany – were joined by tens of thousands of others in St Peter’s Square to celebrate the universal recognition of the holiness of men and women they already knew were saints. Carolina Escamilla, who traveled from San Salvador for canonization, said she was “super happy” to be in Rome. “I don’t think there are words to describe all that we feel after such a long-awaited and long-desired moment like the ‘official’ canonisation, because Archbishop Romero was already a saint when he was alive.” Each of the new saints lived lives marked by pain and criticism – including from within the Church – but all of them dedicated themselves with passionate love to following Jesus and caring for the weak and the poor, Pope Francis said in his homily. That first expression of generosity begot another, and another, leading to the creation of the Alive in Hope Foundation. Eleven years later, $23 million has been distrib- uted in support of the Catholic community in Brooklyn and Queens. In order to have a sense of the divine and the eternal in your life, you must be a hope-giver to others—not only by how you treat others in your interpersonal transactions but in the way you give your tangible gifts away.

    Cuban American bishops express solidarity, call for humanitarian aid WASHINGTON (CNS) — Four Cuban American bishops called on the international community to provide humanitarian aid to the people of Cuba and expressed solidarity with them following protests that erupted on the island nation starting July 11. “We call on international governments and all charitable organizations to collaborate in assisting in this urgent humanitarian crisis for the sake of the suffering people of Cuba, especially the sick and the poor,” they wrote in a joint statement July 13. It was signed by four bishops who were born on the island or have Cuban heritage: Archbishop Nelson J. Pérez of Philadelphia; Auxiliary Bishop Manuel A. Cruz of Newark, New Jersey; Bishop Felipe J. Estevez of St. Augustine, Florida; and retired Auxiliary Bishop Octavio Cisneros of Brooklyn, New York. “We commend the care of Caritas Cubana, as it continues to mediate — with ever so limited resources — a response to the basic human needs of the people of the island, recognizing that the alleviation of suffering is a moral imperative,” they said in the letter. Despite the threat of COVID-19, which is ravaging the island, Cubans took to the streets of various major cities and towns to protest the lack of food and medicine. “In dramatic and courageous images that have been seen throughout the world, the people of Cuba went to the streets in massive demonstrations of solidarity, in towns, villages and cities on July 11 and 12,” the four U.S. bishops said. “Their motto ‘Patria y Vida‘ (‘Homeland and Life’) expressed their frustrations as they experience record cases of COVID-19, a lack of vaccines, adequate medical care and needed supplies — inhuman circumstances that add to the existing lack of food and essential human necessities,” their letter continued.
