The upgrade offer that allowed users to download the full version of Windows 10 for free is finally coming to an end on July 29, 2016. The offer stands till the exact date and any upgrades completed before this date will be free of cost and valid until the device lasts.

Other than getting 300 million users to install Windows 10, this offer had other goals as well. One of the long term goals being to help shut down Windows 7 in a complete and proper way before its extended support commitment ends on January 14, 2020. Windows 10 has also succeeded in cutting down the devices that run on Windows 8 and 8.1 almost in half over the past year and by the end of 2017, it is predicted that the Windows 8.1 users will be in just thousands.
