The FIS Nordic World Ski Championships return to Austria, exac- tly 20 years after Ramsau am Dachstein hosted the three discip- lines of Cross-Country Skiing, Nordic Combined and Ski Jumping in 1999. In February 2019, the world will turn its eyes to Seefeld for two weeks full of world class competitions and great festival events. Seefeld is a primary winter sports tourism destination in the Tirol region and is sure to provide skiing fans, media and participants with outstanding pictures and atmosphere throughout the World Championships. Also special for these World Championships will the opportunity to include a city venue with the Ski Jumping events in the heart of Inns- bruck on one of the most recognized hills in the world. Seefeld has worked tirelessly in the last years since being awarded these World Cham- pionships to renovate and upgrade their facilities and to make a smooth rundown and best working conditions for athletes and teams, media, sponsors and partners a top priority. I am sure that the entire FIS Family, all athletes, teams and media, sponsors and spec- tators will enjoy excellent competitions and great hospitality. Gian Franco Kasper President, International Ski Federation (FIS) SEEFELD 2019 INVITATION 4 GREETINGS FROM THE ORGANISER SEEFELD: GLAMOROUS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS VENUE OF GREAT DIVERSITY! 52nd FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Seefeld. From 19 February to 3 March 2019, the world’s best Nordic skiers will compete for much sought-after World Championships medals in the Olympic region. For the fourth time, Seefeld, with its almost 3,500 inhabitants, located north of Innsbruck, is the host of major events; it has already been an Olympic venue twice (1964, 1976). In view of the relatively small number of inhabitants, sophisticated Seefeld amazes with a great variety of opportunities. It is a tourism and sports region but also offers cultural events – all of this at the highest level, with Mayor Werner Frießer playing a decisive role as a driving force. As President of the Austrian Ski Association, I would like to warmly welcome all the athletes of the participating nations to Seefeld and wish them all a successful and accident-free course of the competitions. My greetings also apply to the officials, coaches and service technicians. In this context, I also want to greet all fans who will come to the competitions. There is one thing I can forecast – all of them will find ideal conditions in Seefeld, because in the course of the World Championships preparations, strenuous financial efforts have been carried out to enable infrastructural measures in the transport sector (station conversion, road construction, etc.) as well as in the sports sector (new trails, new passages with bridges). In a nutshell: Seefeld is well prepared and will fully live up to its reputation as a perfect organizer of major sporting events. Again, a cordial welcome to Seefeld, the State of Tyrol, and Austria. • City Tips Innsbruck Think Imperial Monuments and Contemporary Urban Design
The trend-setting event in the heart of Europe City Tips Innsbruck Think imperial monuments and contemporary urban design. Olympic records and opulent past splendour. Open to the world and rich in traditions, the Tyro- lean capital has always been a city of many faces. Steeped in centuries of colourful history, Innsbruck features a range of fi ne ex- amples of Imperial splendour bestowed on the town by numerous Habsburg rulers with a penchant for architecture and creative arts. Some of the town´s most si- gnifi cant monuments date back to the late 15th century, marking the early hey- days of the Austrian monarchy. Visitors are taken on a journey back in time with an enchanting array of splendid architectural gems from the Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque and Neo-Classical period. Historical landmarks such as the Golden Roof, the Court Church with its stunning bronze statues, the Imperial Palace and Ambras Castle evoke the grandeur of the Habsburg empire´s bygone greatness. But Inns- bruck scores also with visionary urban design to make any modern architecture enthusiast´s heart beat faster – for example Heinz Tesar´s inspired BTV Stadtforum, or the spectacular Bergisel Ski Jump Stadium created by Zaha Hadid. Boasting state-of-the-art competition venues, Innsbruck also plays a signifi cant role as a major international sports hub located in the heart of the Alps. Having played host to Olympic Winter Games on two occasions already (1964 and 1976), Innsbruck was also the venue for the inaugural 2012 Winter Youth Olympic Games. Keeping its fi nger on the pulse of the times, Innsbruck offers a vibrant blend of cul- tural treasures and lofty heights, high heels and hiking boots, Baroque opera and jaunty marching bands.

  • Skocznie X3 Ski Jumping Hills X3
W jaki sposób wprowadzono rozwiązania smart do użytkowania tych budowli? Jak zmieniła się estetyka tych konstrukcji? Analizując trzy wymienione przykłady obiektów sportowych, autor poszukuje odpowiedzi na powyżej zadane pytania. Abstract Ski jumping hills are costly structures meant for a small group, whose struggles are being watched by thousands of spectators. Towards the end of the twentieth century it was observed that ski jumping hills had been dominated by their function. The first structure that broke away from this convention was the Bergisel ski jumping hill. A completely new aesthetic, introducing spec- tators to the top of the ski jumping hill outside of competitions so that they could feel like the ski jumpers themselves, as well as a variety of accompanying functions, made this example a model solution for successive projects.

This study analyzes whether the OA plays a crucial role for the future of the OG. We, therefore, examined the official IOC documents and feasibility studies of the 2026 Winter Olympic Games (WOG) bidders and conducted qualitative interviews with experts in the field (n = 15). The results reveal that the 2026 WOG hosts plan to reduce the budgets for the organization and the infrastructure costs in the host regions. As a consequence, the number and nature of the sites and venues as well as the distances between them will increase. This means that the future Olympic heritage (OH) may lay less in iconic buildings but rather focus on the attempt to fulfil the city’s long-term strategies. Our analyses extend the literature by: (1) analysing the OA in view of future OG, (2) comparing experiences from past OG with those of current bidders, (3) integrating expert knowledge thanks to qualitative interviews and, finally, (4) considering new heritage concepts.
