ADOPTTHE Barbados Alliance to A BED IN 2020 End Homelessness (BAEH) is encouraging Barbadians to support its Adopt-a-Bed for the Homeless Campaign, which will see more persons in the homeless community having a place to rest their heads, even as night falls. President of the BAEH, Kemar Saffrey, says the focus is on getting homeless persons off the streets of Barbados and into the newly opened homeless shelter, in this island’s capital of Bridgetown. “We are a doing our $20 a bed campaign, where we are asking persons to donate twenty dollars that goes towards a bed per night. So they can donate their $20 and added to the bed, that takes care of laundering, that takes care of food, that takes care of keeping the facility clean, that also aids with the bills,” Saffrey explained. “So we are asking persons to sponsor a bed for at least $20. If they want to do more, they can, so as to be able to really help the homeless sleep at night,” he continued.
