South Wales Calendar 2018-19 UPDATED Sytner MINI Tennis Competitions South Wales - Winter 2018/19 WHAT ARE SYTNER MINI EVENTS? Local, fun tennis competitions! A perfect introduction into playing matches whilst having fun with friends (and making new ones). They’ll be an element of team competition and the children will get plenty of help with how to play a match. Sytner MINI events are ideal for a child’s FIRST EVER TOURNAMENT experience. You’ll find the calendar of events and & the entry form on the next few pages We look forward to seeing you and your child at a Sytner MINI Fun Tennis Competition soon! @SytnerTennis Tennis Wales How To Enter It’s quick and easy to sign up for the Sytner MINI Competitions Option 1 - drop an email to [email protected] with either a scanned copy or photo of the completed entry form. Option 2 - fill in the entry form below and, if the event is at your club hand it into the coaching team and they’ll make sure you’re included in the event. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU REGISTER FOR ALL THE EVENTS YOU’D LIKE TO PLAY so the organiser can include your child in their plans and contact you in the event of bad weather etc. The entry fee is just £5-£8 per player per event depending on the venue PAY THE ORGANISER ON THE DAY WHICH EVENTS SHOULD I ENTER? MINI red - aimed at children aged 6, 7 & 8 years old - lots of fun and a chance to learn practice playing matches. We’ll use mini red balls, mini red courts and simple scoring formats. MINI orange - These events are for children aged 9+ who are playing their first few orange tournaments. If your child has an LTA mini tennis rating of O3 or O4 (or no rating) these events are for you. MINI green - for children aged 10+ using a full-sized tennis court and a mini green ball and simple scoring formats. These events are for children aged 10+ who are playing their first few green tournaments. If your child has an LTA mini tennis rating of G3 or G4 (or no rating) these events are ideal. Sytner Teen Tennis - for children aged 11+ who are new to competition. We’ll be using a full-sized tennis court, a yellow tennis ball and simple scoring formats. If your child has an LTA Rating of 10.2 or 10.1 (or no rating) these events are for you. Background 1.3 Currently in the Garw Valley as with all other areas in Bridgend, sports and community groups are considering the transfer of sports and community venues and assets from the Council, through the Community Asset Transfer (CAT) process. 1.4 Some of the assets within the Garw Valley are in a poor state of repair and well below an acceptable standard. The cost of repairing and maintaining these assets is beyond the reach of many of the sport and community groups and therefore a potential solution is being sought to ensure that sporting and community activities are not lost. 1.5 To support the CAT process, Reach has already produced a ‘Rural Community Asset Transfer Toolkit’ which provides groups with a step by step guide to asset transfer and also commissioned a report ‘Review of Sustainable Community Venues and Assets in Bridgend County Borough’, which provides a detailed understanding of the issues faced by groups who both currently are or are considering managing/owning/leasing community facilities.

The Sports Council for Wales has adopted International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). Sport Wales is a Sole Trustee of the Sports Council for Wales Trust. HISTORY AND STATUTORY BACKGROUND The Sports Council for Wales (known by its trade name Sport Wales) was established by Royal Charter dated 4 February 1972, with the objectives of "fostering the knowledge and practice of sport and physical recreation among the public at large in Wales and the provision of facilities thereto". It is financed by annual funding from the Welsh Government and from income generated from its activities. These Statements of Account are prepared pursuant to Article 15 of the Royal Charter for the Sports Council for Wales (Sport Wales) in a form determined by the Welsh Government with the approval of HM Treasury. A copy of the Accounts Direction is available for public inspection at Sport Wales offices at Sophia Gardens in Cardiff.     Guidance for Tennis Venues, Coaches & Players in Wales COVID-19: RETURN TO PLAY: PLAY SAFE GUIDELINES UPDATED 21 JUNE 2021 VERSION 10 INTRODUCTION We know how important it is for people to be active, and the particular role tennis can have in the physical and mental wellbeing of those that play it. By its very nature, tennis is an activity whereby close person to person contact can be avoided. Based on the Welsh Government guidance and adjustment of lockdown restrictions, Tennis Wales & the LTA have developed a set of practical guidelines to follow so that tennis can be played in Wales during the Covid-19 pandemic, where the local environment allows. These guidelines apply to both Tennis and Padel, and outline adaptations so that tennis activity can be enjoyed in a way that is in line with Welsh Government advice and helps to prevent the spread of COVID-19. They include measures to limit hand to shared surface contact and minimise unnecessary interactions with others. We have indicated the key additions and updates to these guidelines for Version 10 of this document with (NEW) and (UPDATED) on the following pages. IMPORTANT: This ‘Return to Play’ document is national (Wales) guidance. You should read this guidance in tandem with the updated Welsh Government guidance on a ‘Phased Return to Sport’ here VENUES Tennis venues across the country are all different and operate in different local contexts. Making an assessment of whether a safe exercise environment can be provided depends on a range of factors, which apply differently at each venue. It is the responsibility of each tennis provider, coach and facility to make that assessment based on their local environment.
