    Review: Roadburn Thursday 19th April 2017 By Sander van den Driesche It’s that time of the year again, the After Yellow Eyes it’s straight to the much anticipated annual pilgrimage to Main Stage to see Dark Buddha Rising Tilburg to join with many hundreds of perform with Oranssi Pazuzu as the travellers for Walter’s party at Waste of Space Orchestra, which is Roadburn. As I get off the train the another highly anticipated show, and in heat kicks me right in the face, what a this case one that won’t be played massive difference to the dull and rainy anywhere else (as far as I know). What morning I left behind in Scotland. This happened on that big stage was is glorious weather for a Roadburn phenomenal, we witnessed a near hour Festival! Bring it on! of glorious drone-infused psychedelic proggy doom. In fact, it felt a bit too early for me personally in the timing of the festival to experience such an extraordinarily mind-blowing set, but it was a remarkable collaboration and performance. I can’t wait for the Live at Roadburn release to come out (someone make it happen please!). Yellow Eyes by Niels Vinck After getting my bearings with the new venues, I enter Het Patronaat for the first of my highly anticipated performances of the festival, Yellow Eyes. But after three blistering minutes of ferocious black metal the PA system seems to disagree and we have our first “Zeal & Ardor moment” of 2018. It’s Waste of Space Orchestra by Niels Vinck not even remotely funny to see the On the same Main Stage, Earthless Roadburn crew frantically trying to played the first of their sets as figure out what went wrong, but luckily Roadburn’s artist in residence.

    im Auftrag: medienAgentur Stefan Michel T 040-5149 1467 [email protected] KLAUS SCHULZE Klaus Schulze wurde 1947 in Berlin geboren, tauchte während der 1960er-Jahre in die dortige Underground-Szene ein und spielte Bass, Gitarre und Schlagzeug in verschiedenen Bands. 1970 und 1971 veröffentlichte er Alben mit Tangerine Dream und Ash Ra Tempel, stieg bei beiden Gruppen jedoch bald wieder aus. In den folgenden Jahren sollten diese eine neue deutsche Musik definieren, die international als Krautrock oder Kosmische Musik verehrt wurde. Schulze tat dasselbe, auf seine eigene Art – seine musikalische Vision war derart mächtig und ambitioniert, dass er sie nur im Alleingang umsetzen konnte. Inspiriert von Pink Floyd und Richard Wagner formte er fremdartige Sounds zu ausufernden Kunstwerken. Schon bevor er gewöhnliche Synthesizer in seiner Musik einsetzte, entwarf er auf „Irrlicht“ (1972) episch orchestrale Klanglandschaften, die auf seinen vielen weiteren Alben der 1970er-Jahre wie dem Meisterwerk „Timewind“ (1975) immer elektronischer und hypnotischer ausfielen. Diese Alben gelten längst als Meilensteine und machten Schulze zu einem der wichtigsten Vertreter der „Berliner Schule“. Es gibt kaum ein Ambient- oder Electronica-Album der letzten 25 Jahre, auf dem der Einfluss von Klaus Schulze nicht zu hören ist: seine abstrakten Atmosphären, die übernatürlichen Flächen, der mystische Futurismus, den er mit seinem Synthesizer- und Keyboard-Arsenal heraufbeschwor. Damals passte Schulzes Musik perfekt in das goldene Zeitalter der Science Fiction, heute klingt sie schlichtweg nach zeitloser Ewigkeit. Schulze machte Musik, die es so noch nicht gegeben hatte. Manche nannten es Kosmische Musik, andere priesen Schulze als den Wegbereiter von New Age. Irgendwo zwischen Ambient, experimenteller Musik und klassischer Komposition schuf er sphärische Sound-Meditationen, die immer wieder neue, phantastische Welten erkundeten.

    Vicious ghoul punks CRIMSON SPECTRE team up with Eco-violence warriors UWHARRIA for a battle of epic proportions. With a sound like the undead proletarian masses destroying their former masters in a blood-spattered zombie uprising, the unholy CRIMSON SPECTRE defy all that corporate punk and hardcore have become. Maybe because they’re old enough to remember a time before there was such a thing as “corporate punk and hardcore”, or maybe because they never sold-out to a formula sound or watered down lyrics. In the days when the US empire pretends to stand triumphant and declare that “there is no alternative”, fi ve (r)aging punk rockers never stopped believing in the power of rebel music or revolutionary dreams. Instead, CRIMSON SPECTRE will be the ones digging the graves, as they unearth monster riffs and bone-shattering beats to unleash on the oppressor class. CRIMSON SPECTRE is the evil smile on the face of the gravedigger. UWHARRIA started in 1999 as a group of environmental activists who were to create a musical extension of their activism. Eight days after forming, the band had written seven songs, played their fi rst show, and recorded a demo. These songs were based on the concept of nature glorifi cation: skunks, woodpeckers, sea turtles, dung beetles, and the human species being devoured by a jaguar. UWHARRIA blends early hardcore punk with NWOBHM and a heavy dose of crossover thrash, while being compared to BAD BRAINS, COC, RATOS DE PARAO, DRI, and oddly, CCR. The band’s favorite review was, “Sounds like Ronnie James Dio getting his
