marina and the diamonds mega download album Electra Heart [Deluxe] The second studio album from Marina Lambrini Diamandis finds the mercurial Welsh singer/songwriter assuming the role of diva in waiting, trading in the ballsy, quirky retro-pop of her 2010 debut, Family Jewels, for the glitzy (and still relatively ballsy) electro-thump pomp of Ke$ha and Lady Gaga. Produced by Dr. Luke (Katy Perry), Liam Howe (Sneaker Pimps), Greg Kurstin (Lily Allen), and Rick Nowels (Madonna), Electra Heart is a brooding, sexy, desperate, overwrought, and infectious record that's both aware and unashamed of its contrivance. In short, Diamandis is trying to expose the artifice of big-box pop music by using its own voice, and despite the obvious trappings of the concept, she does a fairly respectable job. Her resonant operatic voice is expressive enough to make a lyric like "Candy bear, sweetie pie, I wanna be adored/I'm the girl you'd die for," from the capricious opener "Bubblegum Bitch," feel less like a floozy come-on and more like a malicious schoolyard taunt. When she sticks to that persona, as she does on standout cuts like the Lykke Li meets "Viva la Vida"-era Coldplay-influenced single "Primadonna" and the saucy, Lana Del Ray-inspired "Teen Idle," Electra Heart beats with the feral blood of an army of disenfranchised high-school loners coming into their own, but deeper, more depressive cuts like "The State of Dreaming," "Living Dead," and the grim, dancefloor-ready downer "Homewrecker," despite their catchy melodies, clever wordplay, and meticulous, radio-savvy production, reveal the lonely rebel, defiantly eating lunch alone, secretly wishing for acceptance. I’m creating my next project. and this story can only be told by women. I’m looking for you. tag anyone you’d love to hear me create with. or tag yourself :) Marina tagged the location as "Woman's World", fans took this to mean that she was doing a completely female lead project but she clarified in a 2021 interview that she was specifically looking for a producer, music video director and photographer for Man's World. [4] And in 2020 stated "It just felt necessary. [I was thinking about] women’s stories and how important it is for women to actually tell them. It’s my responsibility to make sure I’m hiring women who represent what I like talking about. “Man’s World” was an opportunity to do that. " [5] In August Marina wrote Man's World. [6] With the intention of "[writing] a snapshot of how women and LGBTQ+ individuals have been subjugated and discriminated against throughout history." [12] Around February or January Marina wrote "Pandora's Box", a month before the pandemic started in the UK. [13] On February 7th, About Love was released, an original song for the Netflix Movie To All The Boys: P.S. I Still Love You. On the 26th, Marina was in the studio with songwriter and producer Jennifer Decilveo. [14] This would be for Man's World, which she had finished, and intended to release at Coachella. [15] On the 8th of March Marina posted to her Instagram a snippet of a song, "Man's World". [16] Later that day Neon Gold retweeted her Twitter post, with "Happy International Women’s Day, something special coming soon." [17] On the 8th of April Marina said she was writing the album alone, and that it was "Froot 2.0 but wilder". [18] On the 10th of April, during her livestream on Bose's Instagram, Marina revealed she had written about 70% of the album [2] . She said two of the songs she wanted as singles really connected to "what was going on right now", with the pandemic, politics and socially. [19] She then played a snippet of Pink Convertible, initially the wrong mix, "pink convertible - jack lesson", [20] possibly meaning it was co-produced with Jack Patterson, Marina's boyfriend at the time, as said that she wanted to release it "soon" but wasn't sure how to produce it. [21] Marina said that she was working with a female producer, and she was writing it on her own. [22] She then stated it wasn't like Froot, the only similarity being she was writing it by herself, and was described sonically by Marina as having a "rougher sound" than Electra Heart and LOVE + FEAR . [23] Marina then talked about the themes of the album "some of it so far is about being a woman, about inequality, but maybe only two songs. Other songs are just inspired about what's going on socially, 'why are people so mean to each other?' 'why are people so good to each other' y'know, stuff that we're all trying to understand." [24] On May 14, Marina posted a photo of herself to her social media with the caption "Purge The Poison". [25] This was followed by a video in which she played a short snippet of the song's demo. [34] On January 20, Marina replied to fan asking about the album with "She is almost at the end of her processing.". She later reposted the reply on Twitter, hinting to a single/album release coming soon. [35] Throughout February and March, Marina shared three snippets from the upcoming album. These were Flowers, Highly Emotional People and Venus Fly Trap. A week before release, the Man's World vinyl was delayed by a month due to production delays caused by COVID-19. On March 25, "Flowers", "Venus Fly Trap" and "Highly Emotional People" showed up on a music recognition website, which suggests the album has been completed and uploaded onto their databases. On April 14, Marina released the album's second single and music video, "Purge the Poison", and announced the album's title, cover, tracklist and release date.
