    IJMSS Vol.01 Issue-03, (July, 2013) ISSN: 2321–1784 LUCBAN SPECIALTY FOODS AS CULINARY ATTRACTION IN QUEZON PROVINCE, PHILIPPINES *Donna Marie S. Briones, Riza M. Cueto, Rizel S. Ocampo, Jessica M. Aballa, Billy Festijo ABSTRACT This study determined the contribution of Lucban specialty foods to its tourism industry in terms of social and economic benefits and to propose a plan of action to promote Lucban as food specialty destination. The researchers used descriptive and qualitative method with Tourism Officer, Residents and restaurant owners as respondents. The researchers found out that the contributions of the Lucban specialty foods for economic benefits are considered as the source of income and it helps to increase demand and taxes. In promoting Lucban as food specialty destination, restaurant owners are using some marketing tools especially the word of mouth to spread their culinary tourism. The researchers recommended that the restaurant owners may enhance these specialty foods of Lucban to be more attractive and refreshing for the tourists. To maintain the tourism industry in Lucban, Quezon they may provide additional services to satisfy tourists, maintain the quality of the product and the characteristics of people in Lucban and create more products that continuously develop their social and economic resources. Brown rice consists of the outer layers of pericarp, seed-coat and nucellus; the germ or embryo; and the endosperm. The endosperm consists of the aleurone layer and the endosperm proper, consisting of the subaleurone layer and the starchy or inner endosperm. The aleurone layer encloses the embryo. Pigment is confined to the pericarp (Juliano and Bechtel, 1985). The hull (husk) constitutes about 20 percent of the rough rice weight, but values range from 16 to 28 percent. The aleurone layer varies from one to five cell layers; it is thicker at the dorsal than at the ventral side and thicker in short-grain than in long-grain rices (del Rosario et al., 1968). The aleurone and embryo cells are rich in protein bodies, containing globoids or phytate bodies, and in lipid bodies (Tanaka et al., 1973; Tanaka, Ogawa and Kasai, 1977). The endosperm cells are thin-walled and packed with amyloplasts containing compound starch granules.

Abdul Djebai Hapip dari Universitas Lambung Mangkurat yang juga men jail peserta penataran teisebut. Meskipun dana dan kesempatan terbatas, namun dengan bekal semangat dan ilmu yang diperolehnya selama mengikuti penataran, kamus mi dapat disajikan kepada masyaiakat dalam benwk seperti yang sekarang. Terbitnya Kamus Bahasa Ban/ar - Indonesia mi akan memperkaya khasanah kepustakaan, khususnya dalam bidang perkamusan. Juga dlharapkan agar penerbitan mi 'embuka keinungkinan luas dalam penggarapannya labih lanjut serta pemanfaatannya untuk mengembangkan bahasa Indonesia pada masa yang akan datang.
