The 2008 Midwest League Coach of the Year also guided Penn to the program’s first winning season in 29 years in 2005 when the team was 6-5. Over his six years, Hafner has produced 74 all-conference players and nine All- Americans. Prior to his career at Penn, Hafner had coaching stops at Carl Junction HS, Southwest Baptist University, Emporia State University, and Pittsburg State University (student coach). Hafner graduated from Pittsburg State in 1994 with a degree in mathematics. Bill Terlisner is in his 11th season as head football coach at Quincy and enters this season with a 43-67 record. Terlisner led the program to three consecutive winning seasons (all 6-5 records) from 2006-2008, the first time the feat had been accomplished in school history. He actually began his coaching career at Penn in 1992 as the offensive and defensive line coach and then moved on Quincy in 1993 where he has been ever since. Terlisner is a 1991 graduate of Quincy with a degree in history. THE STATESMEN LAST WEEK: A school-record 473 rushing yards guided Penn to a huge 44-19 upset over then-#22 Taylor (Ind.) in an MSFA crossover game. Leading just 16-7 at the break, the Statesmen outscored the Trojans 14-0 in the third stanza and cruised to the win. Six different players finished with over 50 yards, led by 98 yards via P.J. Perry (Sr., Clermont, Fla., East Ridge HS). Taylor Parsons (Fr., The Woodlands, Texas, College Park HS) had 82 rushing yards and capital- ized the best with three scores. Travion Johnson (Jr., Winnfield, La., Hutchinson CC) and Shawn Davis (Fr., Hamersville, Ohio, Western Brown HS) each managed 74 yards.
