MoMA PS1 ANNOUNCES LINE-UP FOR WARM UP 2011

Annual Outdoor Music Series Runs Every Saturday from July 2–September 3

(, NY — June 8, 2011) MoMA PS1 presents Warm Up 2011, beginning July 2 and taking place every Saturday this summer through September 3. Now celebrating its 14th year, the museum’s highly anticipated outdoor series will continue its tradition of introducing audiences to the best in experimental live music, sound, performance, and DJs. Featured artists include Omar-S, DJ Pierre, Sun Araw, Black Dice, Four Tet, , Grimes, Syd Tha Kyd / OFWGKTA, His name is alive, and Nguzunguzu. The annual series is held in MoMA PS1’s courtyard, which this year features Holding Pattern by Interboro Partners, an immersive environment that is the winning design of MoMA PS1’s 12th annual Architects Program.

This year's Warm Up marks the second year the series will be conceived by a curatorial committee hand selected by the museum to represent a wide spectrum of expertise and experiences in music, sound, and the performing arts, resulting in a unique summer sound that explores, interprets, and combines genres. Selected by MoMA PS1 director and organized by MoMA PS1 curatorial assistant Eliza Ryan, the Warm Up 2011 committee includes Dean Bein, head of ; Kris Chen, head of A & R at XL Recordings; Robin Carolan, head of Tri Angle Records; Jonathan Galkin, co- founder of DFA Records; Brandon Stosuy, editor for and contributing editor for The Believer; and Matt Werth, label head of RVNG Intl.

Throughout the summer, installations by CONFETTISYSTEM, Fort Makers, Nightwood, and Thunder Horse Video, will accentuate the Warm Up stage, organized by Jocelyn Miller, MoMA PS1.

Warm Up 2011 General Information

Hours and Directions Opening July 2, Warm Up 2011 will be held each Saturday for ten consecutive weeks, through September 3, from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

MoMA PS1 is located at 22-25 Jackson Avenue at 46th Avenue in Long Island City, , across the Queensboro Bridge from midtown Manhattan. It is easily accessible by bus and subway. Traveling by subway, visitors should take either the E or M to Court Square - 23 Street (note that the M does not run on weekends); the 7 to 45 Road-Courthouse Square; or the G to Long Island City - Court Square. Visitors may also take the Q67 bus to Jackson and 46th Avenues or the B61 to Jackson Avenue. Visitors using public transportation are advised to check the MTA Weekend Service Advisory.

Admission On Warm Up Saturdays, from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., the admission fee to MoMA PS1 and Warm Up is $15. Included in this price is access to all exhibitions and Warm Up.

MoMA Members receive one ticket for themselves with a valid Membership card. Long Island City residents receive one free entry for themselves upon showing proof of their residency.

MoMA PS1 General Information

Hours: MoMA PS1 is open from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Thursday through Monday. It is closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Day.

Museum Admission: Admission is suggested: $10.00 for adults; $5.00 for students and senior citizens; free for Long Island City Residents, MoMA members and MoMA admission ticket holders. The MoMA ticket must be presented at MoMA PS1 within thirty days of date on ticket and is not valid during Warm Up or other MoMA PS1 events or benefits.

Background: MoMA PS1 is one of the largest and oldest organizations in the United States solely devoted to contemporary art. Established in 1976 by , MoMA PS1 originated from The Institute for Art and Urban Resources, a not-for-profit organization founded five years prior with the mission of turning abandoned, underutilized buildings in into artist studios and exhibition spaces.
